Red Army East: Has there been any mention of Canada sending a team to the FISU World University games in Lucerne,(CHE).
The games are scheduled from Dec11-21,2021.
I posted that Team USA will be represented by Northeastern University (Boston), out of Hockey East, unless that has changed?
If Canada participates, what conference will go?

UNB Bruins Fan : Ben Steiner tweeted awhile back that the team will be AUS/CW heavy….but no Alberta Golden Bears players are expected to participate.

There will be another team that will face Team Canada juniors.

You think that coaches would be set in place by now? It's less than a month away.

I can understand UofA not going to FISU as World Juniors will be in Alberta and they will fill the bulk of the "practice" team.
If it is AUS/CW heavy I can see Babs going and honestly from the AUS the only "sure" pick would be Gards, but Forbie would get a look as well.
I also saw that Lake Placid is hosting the 2023 FISU games.
If Northeastern is going as the US rep it will be a departure from other years where a Div III all-star team went, while the Div I guys played World Juniors.

I have heard that a "national" select team is good to go for FISU, but they are waiting for USports to make the announcement (who seem to be dragging this out ...)

Confirmed, Team USA will be represented by Northeastern Men and women hockey teams (Hockey East).
This is a big step up, as it is usually selected from players from NCAA Div 3 schools.

Frankly, I'm shocked that they even tried.

Not surprising, my cousin who had called me last week stating she would be coming home for Christmas (from Switzerland), called us again tonight to say she wouldn't be able to come because of new restrictions being put in. I hadn't been checking their covid numbers but gave them a quick glance tonight. They definitely aren't trending in the right direction.

Too bad for the players and staff that had been selected.
