Thanks for the input but that would be too much to keep up with for me. I think the scoring works quite well and we've never had a tie in this competition so far. Keeping it simple is part of the fun

At some point, I want to turn this yearly game that we play into an app...mostly because I want to learn how to code. Maybe by that time, we can add all these extra little things to make it more interesting.

Perhaps so but the simpler it is, the easier it is for many people to partake in it. We added the extra points last year and that worked fine, but the idea you have would add significantly to the scoring every game, and the chance of making mistakes and not keeping up with the correct total would increase a lot.Especially for me who is mostly checking the game result in the morning. I agree that in an app it would probably be easy pickings when you have autocount of the standings, but we're not quite there yet ;-)
