Seems like he was going back overseas at the end of the year, so this gives him another kick at the can (first?).

(google translation: Filip Cederqvist, 24 years old this summer, is considering returning to the SHL for next season - and then Frölunda should be a really hot track, according to Expressen. He accounted for 32 (14+18) points in Djurgården 21/22, but has had a bit of a tough time away in North America (AHL).)

If UPL would just give him a few redundant K's he could be Noah Laakokukan. Would that make him Finnish too?

Wasn't Cederqvist a important piece for Amerks?

They were trying to groom him into being a checking or mid-line player. He's still a ways off partly because he's been hurt a lot this year and have way too many bodies so there has been no sophomore bump. They have so few guys who play in traffic that it was hoped he might eventually work into an identity line role. Instead... this.

I had forgotten that Cederqvist was one of the two guys selected with the late-round trade-up stuff that Botterill did in 2019. Huglen is the other and at least until 30 days after he leaves school this year, still part of their protected list.
