I'm clock watching at work and have nothing but time on my hands, so here goes:

2000's: Civ 4, Dead Space, MGS3
2010's: Bloodborne, Stardew Valley. Maybe HM to BFBC2.

Sports: I liked the NHL 2K games a whole bunch.
Point-and-click adventure: Discworld?
Hack and slash: Google includes Diablo 3 in this category, so I'll go with that.

2D type of video games or 3D type of video games: 2D for platform (can't stand Mario 3D games). 3D for all other types.
