I think he would trade Dahlin for Crosby, that's how much of an idiot Bergevin is. Or even worst, Toews.

Hmm I dont know if thats the best example to use lol . Even at 30 Crosby fits with Weber and Price and fixes our GLARING MASSIVE hole and is still considered the best (or 2nd if you want to argue McDavid) player in the league .

Statistically, they had the best chance at Matthews, but yeah, luck is always in the cards for the lottery. Dahlin would be awesome of course, but top-3 period would be great as either Svechnikov or Zadina would be great additions.
Zadina or Svechnikov would be great yes, but they wouldn’t be game changers or potential franchise players like Dahlin. They are great complimentary players.

Oh, I know that. Just meant I wouldn't lose if if we ended up with #2 or #3... the hope if for #1 of course and Dahlin is the clear #1.

Hey, let me just ask you since you mentioned their names... I know both are still U18 but what's your feeling in terms of how they rate against each other?

It's hard to say right now and I generally only really dig into players in their draft years. Right now both are doing remarkable things for their age.

Hughes is a C tho where Lafreniere has been playing wing. So in terms of Habs, if I had to pick just one it would be Hughes right now. On the other hand if you get Lafreniere and he's a franchise player. The Franco only base will be enamored enough to let other things slide.

If they do a Leafs tank that's5 years of misery or a Bruins rebuild which looks good for now but I am not so sure in 1-2 years

Both can work if done properly, demonstrated by each team.

that being said, our team and prospect pool is so horrible from Marc, we would need a full tank rebuild like the Leafs.

Marc has single handly f**ked this team so hard, that a retool would only get us back to being 1st round exit play off specialist.

A full rebuild is required to take this steaming pile of shit and transform it into a legit contender.

The Bruins already have two #1 centers in Bergeron and Krecj. They also have two top NHL point producers in Marchand and Pastrnak. They only added prospects around them. Canadiens don't have those pieces. We only have Price who is comparable to Rask and Weber who's a younger version of Chara.

Right now, we have a 28.6% chance to draft Top 3 and a 9.5% chance to draft 1st overall.

with a poorly build D, a basically empty prospect pool, no C depth at all, that's what the near future looks like for the Habs anyway, miserable...

Since 2012:

The Leafs picked:
#5 in 2012
#8 in 2014
#4 in 2015
#1 in 2016

The Habs picked:
#3 in 2012
#9 in 2016 (Turned into #3 in 2013)
Add another top 10 pick for 2018

So after this season, The Habs will only have one top 10 pick less than the Leafs in the last 6 drafts.
Do we realy need 4-5 more years of high drafting to do what the leafs did?

The Leafs traded a 1st round pick + 2nd round pick right in their "rebuild".
Kessel and Phaneuf trade hasn't really pay any dividend so far (Although Kapanen is starting to shine)

The Leafs draft a C with Nylander, a C with Marner, a C with Matthews. They needed a C and got one
The leafs traded 2 picks for a goaltender, cause they needed a goaltender and they got one.

Starting goaltender, Good C, Good top D. Every teams needs that to perform.
Our Bergevin traded for wingers, drafted wingers and sign UFA wingers......but that's not what the team needed.

Habs need to get what they need. It's pretty simple.

Any team is good enough to win games in this league. A ton of our players are seriously under performing. Carey Price. Drouin. Pacioretty. etc

It's too easy to say "well this team sucks it can't win game so by virtue of that we have no chance".

also - nobody has sold off assets yet. Not even Buffalo or Arizona. That usually starts closer to trade deadline. Selling assets off may actually make us win more games too.

That’s why I’m saying you don’t get it. Bottom 5 teams DON’T win 5+ games in a row. They just don’t. End of story.

There's no question about Lafreniere being a franchise player. He's already arguably the best player, if not top 3 best forward in the Q and his draft is 2 years away. No one is as dominant as Abramov/Zadina/Lafreniere right now.

Can we once get lucky and ****ing get Dahlin? T.O got Matthews, would only be fair ;)

A couple of days ago there was an article in the Swedish daily GT, there was a video interview and an article, they asked if any NHL teams had been in contact with him and he said that the Rangers and the Kings had been in contact with him.

The Leafs also have Kadri (7th in 2009) and JVR (3rd in 2007). And crucially, all of their high picks have panned out.

By getting Dahlin i mean winning the lottery and getting the 1st OA pick, i don't think anyone would ever trade the pick (if that's what you're implying?).

Without Matthews the leaf wouldn’t be that dominant.

Also they accelerate by massing bad contracts with tons of picks, to tell the players, stay injured please.

They also got lucky with Zeitsev, us with Sekac Jerabek weren’t bless
