Dead at 87. Probably the most famous defense attorney of all-time. Defended Patty Hearst, The Boston Strangler, Sam Sheppard, OJ Simpson and others. Hosted a TV show and wrote many books in the legal realm. A true legend of the law.

The guy just completely destroyed Mark Fuhrman during the OJ trial.
In my mind, that was the key to the Simpson trial. If you prove one of the lead detectives is a liar and a racist so unequivocally, how can you really trust any of the evidence? Interestingly, there is a Bailey penned book on the OJ Trial coming out this month.

The actor who played him in the OJ dramatization was great.

I read in his NYT obituary that he was nearly broke when he died, which seemed odd given he was one of the bigger "celebrity lawyers"

Of course not. The evidence against OJ was overwhelming. Bailey found a way to get people to galaxy-brain their way to a different conclusion.

Let's be honest, you don't defend that list of clientele if your interest is in actual justice. That type of defense lawyer falls into the category of "if someone's going to make big money off this, it may as well be me".
