I think that guys that were already somewhat slow (a la Lucic or Anisimov) have a hard time staying in the league after 30, and it's even worse if their style was overtly physical and blue-collar. The exceptions to that rule are finesse guys whose games have never relied on any sort of athleticism to succeed, a la Joe Pavelski, but that's a rare breed. Usually even the slower guys needed at least some sort of burst somewhere in their legs to make the NHL.

he's had a few head injuries over the years that certainly slowed him down, but the game is literally passing him by. guys like him and Jagr just couldn't keep up with today's NHL anymore with their poor skating. just always looking like they were skating in cement and behind the play/their defensive assignment
Well in Jagr’s case it happened when he was 43 or so, the guy moved well enough to carve out a HOF career.
