So a small tournament to practice up to the olympic qualification. Teams from Denmark, Latvia, France and Slovenia participate:

Denmark won the first match after a shootout of controversy. Patrick Galbraith saved a latvian penalty and then afterwards moved the goal with his leg, whereafter the referee gave the goal to Latvia. That just mean that Nicklas Jensen had to score twice in the shootout..which he did. Apparently Denmark now have 11 victories in shootouts out of 13 possible......pretty impressive.

Otherwise also noticiable that Lasse Lassen scored twice in the ordinary time.

Latvia vs Denmark 2-3 SO (0-1,1-0,1-1, 0-0, 0-1)
0-1 Lasse Lassen (Rasmus Nielsen, Julian Jakobsen)
1-1 Roberts Jekimovs (Aleksandrs Jerofejevs) PP
2-1 Vitalijs Pavlovs (Roberts Jekimovs, Aleksandrs Jerofejevs)
2-2 Lasse Lassen (Frederik Storm, Jesper Jensen)
2-3 Nicklas Jensen

France massacred Slovenia in the other match:
France vs Slovenia 6-1 (1-1,3-0,2-0)
1-0 Anthony Guttig (Sacha Treille, Robin Gaborit)
1-1 Ziga Pavlin (Anze Kopitar, Bostjan Golicic)
2-1 Damien Fleury (Julien Desrosiers, Laurent Meunier)
3-1 Laurent Meunier (Julien Desrosiers, Antonin Manavian)
4-1 Brian Henderson (Teddy Da Costa)
5-1 Damien Fleury (Sacha Treille, Anthony Guttig)
6-1 Sacha Treille (Damien Fleury, Anthony Guttig)

The danish team was without the NHL players and Nichlas Hardt, Mads Christensen and Jesper "A" Jensen was out because of injury.
I don't know how strong the latvian roster was, maybe Jekimovs was one of the best players participating?.

This was basically our b-team no Redlihs,Darzins, karsums, girgensons,Masalskis,Kulda,Pujacs.
Well Indrasis was on the roster so tehnically hes the best player that was participating but yeah jekimovs is pretty good too.
Basically Nolan said that with this tournament hes looking for 4th line players that will work their ***** off.

Slovenia didn't bring, except Kopitar, any household names on this tournament. So their result today against Denmark is suprise for me.

Denmark-Slovenia is usually very close. Danish 4-3 victory in U20 and now a 2-1 shootout victory today. But that actually makes France a little scary for Denmark next with their 6-1 win over Slovenia.

Danmark - Slovenien 2-1 (1-0, 0-1, 0-0, 0-0, 1-0)
1-0 Stefan Lassen (Hersby)
1-1 Blaz Gregorc (Golicic, Kopitar) PP
Morten Madsen with the shootout winner (that's 12 out of 14 for Denmark now!).

Apparently it's only the Lassen family that can score in ordinary time....defending brother Stefan scoring today and joining Lasse on the scoresheet. Even the Slovenian goal was "danish" since Gregorc play in Odense (where he hasn't scored all year....)

DEN 5x2, SLO 5x2

Yeah so it was basically Denmark B against Latvia B.
Only real "aces" for Denmark is Nicklas Jensen and Morten Madsen. Yours were Indrasis and Jekimovs.

For international play Denmark has a truly awesome shootout combination:
- hope they can be put to good use during olympic qual....or even better winning before it's needed.

Frans Nielsen (best in NHL), Mikkel Bødker (little under 50% in NHL), Nicklas Jensen, Morten Madsen.......
- not many teams will find that inadequate......if any.

For this Euro challenge - Nicklas Jensen and Morten Madsen already with a winner each.

Well Latvia has beaten Russia twice and Sweden once in wcs so its not all impossible

well I wouldn't go so far to except Denmark to beat USA, Slovakia and Finland even though we have done it before
But OK....Latvia have a much longer elite hockey history.....

What is really scary about this meeting tonight is that France scored 13 goals in regular time against Slovenia and Latvia and Denmark scored 3.
Guess that France' win over Switzerland last WC was no single fluke......they have something cooking!

Not a fair comparision because Latvia and Denmark brought their b teams while french team was almost complete.

True the Latvian and Danish team can bring in stronger players, but France still have a few they can bring in from NA.
Im still impressed though, but lets see what happen tonight - start at 21 CET.

Denmark took the victory of the euro challange:
Nicklas Jensen made the difference. Good to see him starting to be a prolific scorer after his long period at AIK without any goals.

France - Denmark 1-3 (0-0,0-0,1-3)
1-0 Sacha Treille (Damien Fleury)
1-1 Julian Jakobsen (Nicklas Jensen)
1-2 Nicklas Jensen (Jesper Jensen)
1-3 Nicklas Jensen EN
