Didn't realize 6 points were in 2 games.

Really not a terrible trade for either team. Edmonton will take the risk on a former score and Kings want a more all around bottom 6 guy.

The thing with JJ is that although he's smart he's not overly effective on either side of the puck this season. He's painfully slow and rarely wins physical battles. I'll gladly take the chance on Cammy with a ton of good playmakers surrounding him. Jokinen was a major negative in Edmonton this season.

The only poster in HFBoards that thinks a 1 for 1 with similar contracts and 1 year left is a lose-lose. Do you even think before you type?
His post history gets better and better. Some recent gems are thinking Jankowski is a Scheifele level talent and thinking Bennett will become a 70 point selke centre. He's completely delusional.

Thought about this for a minute. Looked at contracts. Looked at production, age etc. Still makes absolutely no sense for LA. Jokinen was on the verge of being waived, he's that bad. Cammalleri, while no longer being the player he once was, is still a 20/20 player. Total robbery by PC. The kings just got robbed by a pretty bad GM.

I think Kings are capitalizing on Cams good start for a guy who they think will find his form as the season goes on and will be a better fit for their roster.

Oilers get a guy who can provide depth scoring, hopefully for the season but even if it's just a shot to get them jump started.

Better situation for both guys, that's about it. Sort of like...what was it, Scuderi for Ehrhoff? Disregard that Sutter went full idiot and played Scuderi 27 min a game after that, you get my point

We needed bottom six help and Cammy wasn't gonna top-six it up with the way things are now. Gaborik coming back soonish makes him totally redundant. Jokinen might not even stick but that's no different than Cammalleri really, and if he does, it's because he did well enough. I'm sure Cammy will get the same 'new role' look in EDM too. Oilers are having no issues with possession and Cammy can finish, Kings are having lots of issues with defense/possession on their side of the red line and Jokinen can theoretically help with that (playing too many kids/rookies on D and bottom six due to injuries).

Lots of chest thumping because Cammy scored 4 points in one game piggybacking off Kempe, though, that's hilarious

The Kings have scored more goals than the Oilers?

Kopitar more points then McDavid

Shhhhh it's easier to meme it up

Hopefully it can work out for both sides, but Jokinen was far from effective on either side of the puck this season. He's looked extremely slow and is constantly outmuscled. He is smart though and an alright playmaker, but his shot looks extremely weak. Hopefully he can show more in LA than he did here because he did not look like an NHL player. I'm happy to take our chances on a guy who historically has had a great shot and good hands over what Jokinen was bringing (nothing). No risk really for either sides, but Edmonton desperately needs shooters. We have an overabundance of playmakers.

Both players are much better fits with their new teams. Nothing more to it. Cammalleri can still shoot the puck and hang with the speedy Oilers while Jokinen is a smart coach-on-ice type of player and a master at letting the puck do the work. Good trade.

Jokinen could fit nicely in there. I believe there's still use for him but with right linemates and TOI. Oilers are more about speed and Kings about heavy puck moving game.

Remember when Oilers fans were thrilled they signed the better JJ. Funny how that worked out.

Most Oilers fans were happy to sign one of the JJs. Most them also knew the Jagr was better just were worried he was slower and the team needs to get faster.

Yes I'm sure a pretty bad GM wouldn't have got Talbot, Kassian and Maroon for peanuts. What a stupid comment.

Uh, why did LA agree to this? Cammalleri had 7 points in 14 games, while Jokinen was absolute trash and only scored 1 assist for his 14 games...
Well, Jokinen has mostly been a 4th liner in Edmonton. That is not what he is good at. He's a 2nd line scorer and a shootout specialist. I have no idea why Edmonton used him as a grinder at low minutes

Could there maybe have been personality issues in LA with Cammalleri? Like there's no evidence of that but I legit have no idea why LA would do this outside of that reason. Am I missing something?

He's basically a versatile 3rd line player at this point and hasn't been shootout specialist in years.
