I thought of a good new name for the ECHL that has never been used by a hockey league before:

Consolidated Hockey League

It reflects the fact that the current league is a consolidation of teams that originated in several different leagues.

NOPE, IT'S ECHL, and it will stay that, imagine how hard it would be to upgrade the name on this section, Z, DO YOU REALLY WANT NWHL to be the first league mentioned here?

No matter how many names you propose for the ECHL and no matter how much the acronym bothers you on a personal level, the league will not change its name and that is the smart decision.

It's just a bizarre and hot take style of claim. There's been minor league hockey for quite some time. Why would minor league hockey suddenly dry up and disappear?

Well, the last depression didn't eliminate minor league hockey. Tulsa had a team in the American Hockey Association from 1929 to 1942.

WWII had far more of in impact on the viability of leagues, than the Great Depression did.
