The doghouse
Ey bruthas and sisters. I need help BIG TIME. I've played this game a looooong time, but never had this problem. I once accidentaly changed the screen size to not windowed or the borderless full screen, but the third option.

After that the game crashed. After that I restarted steam and ehm, but my game wont work. Once I open the game my screen starts flashing black and white. After a while it stops and the game is on, but invincible. I cannot see anything. Well I deleted the game and uninstalled steam aswell. I brought them back, but nothing helps.... I really wanna play this game, but cannot do it anymore....

Does anyone have any idea what to do ?

There might be this distinct possibility which is allmost impossible, but might. If I could memorise where the preferences button is on the main menu and then the screen size button.... But like i said allmost impossible....

Please homies I would love to have some help.... #desperate

you may get a response here, but you might as well try posting at EHM the blueline, found here: Technical Support

Maybe also include type of computer (windows or mac) and the version. Also screenshots!

Foppa = Me. They are not the TBL rosters and if you are getting them off Steam and they have my name, they aren't even really my rosters anymore. I (Foppa/BKarchitect) don't release anything on Steam, it's all only on TBL and if it is on Steam, it's somebody's own modified version of what I released long ago.

My current project is NHL36 (2017-18 season) and it's the only database I continuously update. I've also released a Vegas DB (the very first one like a year ago) and a 32-team DB with Seattle as well. THose work fine but I don't update them. All of them can be found only on the TBL website.

If you want a real, 31-team NHL for the 2017-18 season your options are the TBL 9.6 Beta and another user on TBL just released their own updated real DB today I believe. The actual official TBL DB (non-Beta) I believe will be out in the near future.

Any reason why you don't release yours on Steam Foppa? It seems it is easier to download, find, and start playing with a good deal of convenience. Not as a negative, but just curious overall.

I've seen some of yours on Steam lately, but fortunately they've been giving you credit so that's something I guess. I do love the work you do, your NHL 36 inspired me to do my International DB which is going along nicely!

That's interesting! Can you share more? What team? Any success? Any comment on the KHL simulation?

Well, the funny thing is that I actually know less about the KHL than the NHL (I'm norwegian, btw) so I find it more enjoying to play when there is more to explore. I also tend to get fed up when the AI makes a stupid trade or places their #1 D-man on waivers just because he is 33 and doesn't have a league minimum contract (exaggerated but you know what I mean)... I know you can trade in the KHL too but they happen very rarely.

Last time I played as Kunlun Red Star, but I had a hard time cause alot of players requested to leave and I could only sign crappy coaches because the board wouldn't let me offer enough money. Will try the newest rosters and see what I can do :D

Hey guys, I just released the first public version of my longgggg time pet project. It's a fully updated 2017-18 DB, I think you guys will really enjoy it. It's not complete yet but it's almost there and it's ready for extensive playtesting. So far the feedback has been overwhelming positive. I will release this formally into the Steam Workshop once I feel it is complete.

Please send me feedback either here, or Reddit /r/EHM or the official forum post below.

[2017-18] xECK29x Premier Pivot Rosters v2

General Details:

- This is still a work in progress, ready for playtesting/feedback -- EXPECT FREQUENT UPDATES
- Based off of TBL 17-18 Beta rosters
- Recommended play using alternative ratings scale 0-100 (not required but it's how I viewed the ratings when making them)
- This will NOT be a start of season roster
- NHL/AHL focused rosters
- HEAVILY updated: heights, weights, contracts, places of birth (over 100 added), player types, historical stats, favorite staff (many family connections added) and full re-ratings (CA + PA) of all players contacted to NHL/AHL/ECHL (WIP) teams.
- Over 100 staff added/updated/re-rated
- Touched up all staff on NHL/AHL/CHL/USHL/USHS/NCAA teams, ECHL is still WIP should be done in a few weeks.
- Updated AHL/ECHL contracted players (ECHL WIP)
- Added many high-profile U17 players (still on-going)
- Re-rated/updated top 100 for 2018 draft (will put more focus on this - eventual top 300 - after final Central Scouting and ISS reports come out)
- Added full player histories for almost all drafted/signed NHL prospects (NCAA players now have player histories!) - Still finishing for a few teams
- Updated FA staff/player pool (no more oddball signings of 80+ year old staff)
- Updated draft picks
- Updated transactions (for NHL/AHL/ECHL teams as of 11/27/17).
- Yes it has Vegas and updated AHL/ECHL teams

Thanks/Credits:

- Archi for his amazing editor, without it I wouldn't be able to make these
- The entire team of dedicated researchers that continue to push the boundaries for this game, and anyone that has contributed to the creation of the TBL roster I used as a base!

What I Need From You:

Outside of hopefully a fun time playing EHM with my rosters I need extensive playtesting. I have spent hundreds, if not thousands at this point, of hours in the editor but I have barely played the game. I need to know of any MAJOR issues with the simulation (i.e, CPU teams doing very weird things (like firing all their scouts or terminating all their players at the start of the sim).

Stuff gets ripped off and re-posted and very little can be done about it.

Yep! And after spending hundreds/thousands of hours working on a database, it's a little depressing that some rip the work off...

I'm not answering on behalf of Foppa/BK, but just giving the perspective of one EHM editor...

It's not as convenient as just clicking a single button, but it's not exactly hard to download a single file and put it in a folder (and then just start a new game and select your new database)

Databases are located in your "database" folder on your computer here: Program Files - Steam - steam apps - common - Eastside Hockey Manager - data - database

After seeing the ripping off that's already occurred, I have to admit it sucked a lot of the editing interest away...

For me, putting a few hours into editing (even dozens of hours is a tiny amount!) something that took someone else/others many hundreds of hours (or even thousands of hours) to do & then reposting it isn't something I'm totally comfortable with ...after what's already happened, I don't think I'd even care about the credit myself

I liked/like the TBL community, and literally everything one would want for EHM is there (and I've been there since 2010)...for EHM there's way more available at TBL than on Steam and the steam community doesn't offer anything not on TBL except for theft of work

Well since I am still enjoying doing this I will post another update even though I've been busy and haven't updated in a while. Hope this isn't cluttering the thread too much.

Kraken 2022-23 Off-Season update
June 18, 2022

Kraken trade LW Nikolai Prokhorkin (28yo, 1y left 2.35mil, 388gp 290pts), RW Nicholas Guay (23yo 246AHL gp, 143pts), C Jordan Harris (2019 4th Round, 22yo, 82ECHLgp 52pts) and SEA 3rd Round 2022 to Pittsburgh for PIT 1st Round 2024, and PIT 2nd Round 2025

Prokhorkin is one of the few remaining from original expansion team but the slick winger has seen his role and production drop from career highs of 34g, 75pts in 2020-21 to just 15g, 49pts in 21-22 while even being healthy scratched at times. He can still score, but the team is looking to rejuvenate coming off the cup win. Pittsburgh needs cheap depth to fill out their forward spots so 2 prospects plus a cheap really good winger helps them bigtime.
Kraken trade LD Esa Lindell (28yo, 2y, 3.4mil per, 475gp 220pts), RD Jordan Gross (27yo, 1y, 1.2mil, 109gp 38pts), rights to RD Oldrich Cunik (2021 5th Round), DAL 1st Round 2022 (31st - LW Darrell Labrecque) to Ottawa for LD Gabriel Carlsson (25yo 2y 1.93per, 250gp 37pts) and RD Christian Jaros (26yo 2y, 900K per, 156gp 20pts)
Kraken pay a big price to bring in a top 4 shutdown defenseman in Carlsson who excels in the defensive zone but can also move the puck out of the zone. Lindell is a solid twoway guy and Gross adds skills to the back end for Ottawa, but make no mistake they downgrade a bit but add the 1st rounder.
Kraken trade NYI 2nd Round 2022 (47th - C Alexandre Fortin) to Detroit for COL 2nd Round 2022 (#54 - LD Jesper Holten-Moller), DET 3rd 2024, DET 6th 2025
Trade down for some additional picks.
Kraken trade DET 3rd Round 2022 (#82 LW Robert Vandercandalaere), MIL 3rd Round 2022 (#86 G Joel Hicks), SEA 4th Round 2023 to Florida for rights to RD Cal Wood (Round 2 #61 2022 draft)
Kraken were targetting Wood and when he got snagged they pay the price to get him from the Panthers. Panthers get a boatload of picks for the late 2nd rounder.
Kraken trade G Anthony Popovich (23yo 29AHL gp .885svp) to Chicago for CHI 5th Round 2025
Depth goalie for a depth pick.

Kraken draft RD Yan Burke 1st Round, 24th Overall from Alaska-Anchorage (NCAA)
Smooth skating and passing defenseman with a solid wrist shot, he is unflashy example of the new style of defenseman.
Kraken draft RW Andrew Bickel 2nd Round, 51st Overall from Don Mills (GTHL)
All around winger that prides himself on intangibles, the upside isn't huge but projects as a depth player.
Kraken draft LD Jesper Holten-Moller 2nd Round, 54th Overall from Peterborough (OHL)
Great acceleration and agility that moves the puck well, he did not live up to the hype in OHL last year but still has good upside.
Kraken draft G Duncan McNaughton 2nd Round 72nd Overall from Salem State (NCAA)
Kraken draft C Jarod Ramsay 4th Round 113th Overall from Michigan State (NCAA)
Kraken draft LW Raynald Amsellem 4th Round 144th Overall from Rouyn-Noranda (QMJHL)
Kraken draft C Sam Orpik 5th Round 158th Overall from Saint Anselm (NCAA)
Kraken draft LW Quin Gallagher 5th Round 180th Overall from Prince Albert (WHL)
Kraken draft C Stanislavs Petersons 6th Round 216th Overall from Liepaja U18 (LATU18)
Kraken draft LW Morey Lafrance 7th Round 252nd Overall from Swift Current (WHL)

July 1, 2022
Kraken let 4 walk to UFA.

Trade deadline acquisition RD Mike Green who scored 14pts in 22 games down the stretch and 7pts in 23 playoff games has been released as his contract expires. Backup goalie Garret Sparks (24gp .901svp last year), depth forward RW Patrik Berglund (2gp post deadline last year), and C Jeff Carter (71gp, 20pts in AHL last year) have also been let go.

EDIT: Despite Carter's career ending with a whimper as a depth forward in the AHL he was inducted into the hall of fame after retiring.

July 5, 2022
Kraken add 3.

Former Columbus first rounder C Alex Newhook who's rights were acquired in the deal for C Konstantin Okulov was signed into the fold today. Also brought in was G Malcolm Subban (28yo, 54 NHL gp .884svp, 65gp .904svp ECHL last year) and RD Spencer Stastney (22yo, 61pts in 50gp in NCAA last year).

Top Prospects heading into Camp according to AGM
1. LW Troy Underwood (1st Rd, #11Ovr 2021, 19yo)
2. LD Matheus Landstrom (1st Rd, #36Ovr 2021, 19yo)
3. G Spencer Knight (1st Rd, #14Ovr 2019, 21yo)
4. RW Conor Drouin (7th Rd, #222Ovr 2020, 21yo)
5. C Aaron Norman (4th Rd, #114Ovr 2020, 20yo)
6. RD Nestori Suoraniemi (1st Rd, #28Ovr 2020, 20yo)
7. LD Bowen Byram (1st Rd, #17Ovr 2019, 21yo)
8. C Jamieson Rees (2nd Rd, #52Ovr 2019, 21yo)
9. LW Philipp Kurashev (2nd Rd, #44Ovr 2018, 22yo)
10. C Alex Newhook (Trade from CBS, 1st Rd, #18Ovr 2019, 21yo)

Training Camp Battles
Goaltender:
Jake Allen is the unquestioned starter, but the backup spot is up for grabs. Journeyman Malcolm Subban has the inside track, but will be pushed by 22yo 3 year pro Zachary Bouthillier and 21yo former first rounder Spencer Knight who is coming off a dominating QMJHL overage year.
Defense: Adam Boqvist, TJ Brodie, Michael Matheson, Gabriel Carlsson are locked in for the top 4. Artyom Zub, Byron Byram as penciled in as the 3rd pairing. Journeymen Christian Jaros and Kale Clague are in competition for the #7 spot. 20yo Nestor Suoraniemi, 21 Tobias Bjornfot, 22 Noah Dobson, and 22yo Danila Zhuravlyov stand outside chances to make the team.
Forwards: LW Vladimir Tkachyov, LW/C Isac Andersson, C Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, C Alexis Lafreniere, RW Blake Wheeler, and RW Martin Frk are locks for top 9 roles. RW Marko Dano, RW Adrian Kempe, C/RW JP Pageau, C Andrew Copp. C Greg Meireles, LW Zemgus Girgensons are locks to make the team. The last two spots are currently penciled in as LW Philipp Kurashev and C MacAuley Carson. The roles are much in the air. 23yo Joel Teasdale (3rd 107th 2018), 21yo C Alex Newhook (1st 18th 2019), 24yo Domenic Commisso (undrafted), RW Martin Pospisil (5th 149th 2018) hold the leads on the outside shots, but others may impress in camp.

After long long time I started new save in EHM. Using TBL DB 2018 Beta version and decided to start from the bottom so I picked Nybro from Sweden 1st division (3rd tier). In my first season we were dominant in regular season but chocked in playoffs. In 18/19 we managed to win playoffs and in Allsvenskan promotion/relegation (four winners of 1st division playoffs plus two worst team from Allsvenskan) we finished in top two which means we are going to play in Sweden 2-nd tier next season. It will be though challenge to try to avoid relegation (which our board expects from us). Unfortunaetly although we were promoted, our board cut (!!!!) our player budget for almost 90k euros, from 390.000 to 300.000. Currently it is July 2nd, so we have whole summer to try to sign best player possible within our budget.

Actually, regarding the save game editor part of the editor, when I edit a player's club playing for, and club contracted, in-game it shows the change on his card, but he remains with the original team, and even stays in their lineup. When I did it for a player, I had to put him on waivers to actually transfer him to my team, and he was claimed. Is there a way around this, or is this just how the editor works?

Not getting any answers on TBL, so I will ask here.

Anybody having the problem (or glitch) where the US National Program teams get filled with a TON of random international players after the first simming year? I edited a lot of players and made them international depending on their surname (none on the USNTDP). However, the team is getting filled with some players from nations I never touched like North Korea, Indonesia, and Albania.

Do you guys have an idea in what is going on here?

Typical update stuff - transaction for major leagues (Vatanen trade included), NCAA recruits, tweaked depth charts, refined future draft prospect pools including lots of updates to young CHL players making an impact this season in the OHL/WHL/QMJHL and some NCAA updated ratings for leading players so far this season:

Plus I've updated a couple of teams - the Maine Mariners, who being real life play next season in the ECHL I had already included (luckily) as one of my new ECHL teams but I've tweaked their teams colors and included their logos in the file below (standard logo format). I also updated team names/colors for a couple of clubs in the CCHL (Navan and Rockland) that were new this year and had also not been updated. Their logos are also in the file below:

Also due to some of the transactions, the expansion draft results got changed in a few minor spots so here is a revised NHL36 Expansion Draft import file:

Not getting any answers on TBL, so I will ask here.

Anybody having the problem (or glitch) where the US National Program teams get filled with a TON of random international players after the first simming year? I edited a lot of players and made them international depending on their surname (none on the USNTDP). However, the team is getting filled with some players from nations I never touched like North Korea, Indonesia, and Albania.

Do you guys have an idea in what is going on here?

You need to limit the USNTDP to domestic only players. You can do this under Transfer Rules, assuming that would be the USHL in your case:

Seattle Kraken 2022-23 Report
Kraken open season on fire, make minor roster moves.
Kraken open the season 14-2-1 but as young players push the roster a trade is made.
Kraken trade veteran defensive forward C Andrew Copp to Chicago for CHI 2nd round in 2026.
Kraken trade G Malcolm Subban and SEA 4th 2024 to Vegas for G Corey Crawford

Crawford wasn't finding a role in Chicago while Subbam had failed to step up for the backup role in Seattle as despite a 3-0-1 record he had just a .892 save percentage.

Kraken have injury shocker in net, make deal for depth.
Just 2 days after the Subban trade Jake Allen goes down for 4 months with a UCL tear. This leaves Corey Crawford as the starter with 21 yo former first rounder Spencer Knight as the backup despite a sub .900 save percentage in the AHL.
Just two days later the Kraken deal veteran forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau (15gp, 1g, 2pts, -2), 22yo RD Danila Zhuravlyov (former 3rd #82nd 2018, 15pts in 29gp in AHL this year), rights to LW Kristoffer Ottosson (5th Rd, #180 ov 2019), and SEA 5th in 2023 to Vegas for stickhandling LD Olivier Kylington (25yo, 149NHLgp to date, 9g, 32a, 41pts) and rights to G Charlie Lisko (1st Rd #12Ovr 2022).
Kraken give up real solid 3rd/4th line forward who has been forced out of role by rookie Carson MacAuley along with 2 real solid prospects and a depth pick for depth defenseman Kylington and dispointing former first rounder in Lisko.

Kraken acquired veteran KHL netminder.
Kraken trade G Zachery Bouthillier (23yo, 17-4-1, .895svp AHL), LD Henry Thrun (21yo, 3rd Rd #89Ovr, 2019., 59gp 5g 31pts ECHL), rights to LW Jack Jensen (4th Rd #140 2020) to Nashville for G Juuse Saros (KHL netminder 26yo), and NSH 7th 2027.

Kraken acquire rights for Saros who might someday be starter but Predators will lose his rights in just 4 months while he rejects every contract. Kraken give up some depth prospects.

Kraken add G Juuse Saros and also claim RW Blake Pietile from waivers.
Juuse Saros surprises the Kraken by buying our his remaining years in KHL to accept their 2y, 8mil deal immediately. Pietila adds depth to origination along the RW.

Trade Deadline 2023
TJ Brodie sidelined for months

Brodie goes out for 3 months just as the deadline.
Kraken trade LD Kale Clague, LW Joel Teasdale, RW Dominik Bokk, rights to RD Brady Bouchard to Vegas for rights to C Nick Suzuki
Kraken acquire skilled forward Nick Suzuki who despite struggling in 2020-21 and 21-22 to become an offensive presence has top end talent. In return they;ve given up depth defenseman Kale Clague (3gp 0pts), along with top prospects Joel Teasdale (23yo, 6gp 0pts, +!) and RW Dominik Bokk (22yo 5gp 1g 4pts) and rights to former 6th rounder RD Brady Bouchard.
Kraken trade RD Christian Jaros, RW Blake Pietila, SEA 3rd Rd 2023 to Kansas City for C Derick Brassard, G Carl Stankowski and rights to RW Nikita Koroseltev
Kraken get some veteran depth in Brassard to cover for injuries to Greg Meireles. They add a potential skill player in Koroseltev who is AHL dominant much like reclamation successes Anton Rodin and Martin Frk. KC gets a 3rd out the deal.
Kraken claim RD Blake Siebenaler off waivers from Columbus.
Not wanting Tobias Bjornfot to sit in the press box, AHL veteran Blake Siebanelar is claimed to be the extra D.

Kraken win president trophy!
In a close contest the Kraken win the presidents trophy by just 2 points. While they were 1st in the league with 303gf they were just 4th with 207ga. Leading the way was LW/C Isac Andersson with league leading 46g, and 103pts but also in on it was RW Martin Frk (39g, 91pts), C Alexis Lafreniere (34g, 67pts), C Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (27g, 60pts), RW Blake Wheeler (25g, 59pts), RD Adam Boqvist (9g, 59pts), LW Philipp Kirashev 23g, 55pts) and G Juuse Saros (.913svp 2.31gaa, 30gp).

Which DB are you using? If you want to try something really different, you may want to try out some retro rosters. There's a really good 1970's one (by Nino) and a really good late 90's one.

In case this is of any interest, here is a new release of the Editor (version 0.2.4): Eastside Hockey Manager Editor (v0.2.4) [ALPHA]

Something important to note is the that Editor now automatically deletes player career history which is not linked to a player or non-player and it re-orders the data so that it is in the correct order. You might find that the database initially loads quiet slowly when you open it in the new version of the Editor because there will be a lot of un-linked data to delete. This is just a one-off delay and you will find that the next time you save or load that database it should load as quickly as before. In other words, the Editor is just tidying-up an accumulation of superfluous player career histories.

The main changes are as follows:

1. Filtering
This involved a fair bit of behind the scenes reorganisation/re-design which is why I have only added some basic filtering to begin with. I will be rolling out some more advanced filtering to the other screens over the next few releases. The Club and League editing screens are likely to be the next ones I'll work on. I also need to add the filters to the pop-up dialogue windows that appear.

2. Player Rights Importing
As usual, to create the appropriate template, click on Tools -> Import Spreadsheet -> Create Templates. You'll then have the appropriate player_rights spreadsheet which you can then populate and import via the same screen in the Editor.

The Editor will not allow you to have more than one team having rights to a player per league. If you try to add rights to another team in a league for a particular player then it'll just overwrite the existing rights. For example, if you wanted to move the NHL rights to a particular player from one team to another, just enter the player's name and DOB along with "National Hockey League" as the League and then enter the new team in the Team column.

To delete the rights to a player, just enter "_none" as the team name. For example, if you wanted to remove the NHL rights to a particular player, just enter the player's name and DOB along with "National Hockey League" as the League and then enter "_none" in the Team column.

3. Draft History Importing
As usual, to create the appropriate template, click on Tools -> Import Spreadsheet -> Create Templates. You'll then have the appropriate draft_history spreadsheet which you can then populate and import via the same screen in the Editor.

This works in a very similar to the Player Rights importing described above. A player can only be picked once per draft per year. So if you try to add more than one draft pick from the same year and draft for a player, it'll just edit your existing entry. There is of course nothing stopping you from adding more than one pick from a particular draft for a player provided they relate to different year.

To delete a draft pick, set the Team column to "none" along with the name and DOB of the player and the draft and year in question.

4. Import Improvements
Having spent the summer working on the UK research, I've come across a few things I thought could be done better. Most of these relate to making the Editor more forgiving when trying to match up data in the database (so that few errors are encountering when importing spreadsheets. These include:

- First name synonyms. This will check for alternative spellings of first names in order to try and compensate for differences between what is in the database and what is in the spreadsheet. An example is Evgeni Malkin whose first name can also be spelled as Yevgeni. The Editor will now accept both forms (along with a few others) and will successfully match up with the correct player. I was thinking about expanding this to surnames too, but I think this might go a bit to far and result in us matching up the wrong people. I really could do some help with compiling a list of alternative names in order to improve this function - see here: Name synonyms/alternatives

- Full stops/periods in names are now ignored. So you can enter "st adolphe:mb:can" instead of "st. adolphe:mb:can" and "pk subban" instead of "p.k. subban". But you can of course leave the full stops in if you prefer (it doesn't matter which approach you take).

- Accidental spaces before or after a name in the database or spreadsheet will be ignored. So if you accidentally leave a space after a club name in a spreadsheet, the Editor will ignore that space.

- More flexibility with dates. Invalid dates such as 0.0.0 and 0.0.2000 will be treated as 1.2.1900 when editing a player.

- Cells with "[Unrecognised value ...]" will just be ignored. This means that you can import a research sheet without having to first delete all of those cells with the "[Unrecognised value ...]" text.

5. UI Improvements
Just some minor improvements such as (1) setting a person's Club Contracted will automatically copy over to his Club Playing, (2) adding a new row to various of the tables in the Editor will automatically open a pop-up dialogue window so that you can set the item right away and (3) clubs with have a league set but have no nation are now highlighted in yellow in the navigation list (a club which has no nationality set and which is in a playable league will cause EHM to crash when starting a new game).
