Here are the records and point totals of the Eastern Conference teams since the beginning of the 2012-2013 season (as of Jan 25th, 2018). Any surprises here?

Yay the generals are the best
I think this just proves how lopsided the conferences are. Playing games in the east should be easier for teams (in other words you would expect to see 2-3 teams in the east take advantage of it with more dominant records) and yet the dominant teams always reside in the West. Point is: the West has more high end talent teams and better depth
London 261-97-11-17 (550pts)
SSM 252-103-17-13 (534pts)
Erie 236-122-17-11 (500pts)
OS 210-129-18-27 (465pts)
Kitchener 204-145-16-22 (446pts)
Windsor 191-158-21-14 (417pts)
Sarnia 186-165-20-15 (407pts)
Guelph 185-168-16-15 (401pts)
Saginaw 168-180-26-10 (372pts)
Ply/Flint 158-185-20-21 (357pts)
It’s even more remarkable looking at the Midwest division which has 4 teams over 400 points since 2012-13.. whereas the ENTIRE east conference has just 5 teams. The teams in the west have a tougher schedule yet get better records - largely because they feast on the East.
185+ wins since 2012-13?
4 teams in the East have done it. 8 in the West. You have 3 teams in the West that would be top dogs in the East over the last 5.5 years. What Kitchener has done with 204 wins/446 points is considered solid and average in the West but would be “elite” in the East
The disparity has never been bigger
You are correct in saying "numbers don't lie" but they don't play hockey either. You can hire the best analytics person in hockey and still lose to a great goalie.Men lie, women lie, but numbers don't lie
? Did you not happen to notice that those "****ty" teams in the West all have significantly more points than the bottom of the East? You're right, numbers don't lie and they're saying the exact opposite of your point here. I do think Oshawa and Barrie should be included when discussing the top organizations but the numbers indicate they have an easier road travel.I'd ague that there's been far more parody in the East over these years. The LDN/SSM/ER are so much higher than others because they play against the ****ty bottom half of the west teams so often. The East the teams are much closer and there's not as much discrepancy whereas in the West there's aways the same 1-3 teams who are head and shoulders better than the rest of the West
Except for the fact that Owen Sound, Kitchener, Windsor (considered middle pack in the West) would all be near the top in the East. And Saginaw/Flint/Sarnia/Guelph have better records than the bottom teams of the East. The depth of talent is greater in the West. And the top is far better. Add to it that the West has had the majority of the champions (14 of the last 16 if my math is right)..and the West has feasted on the East during regular season matchupsI'd ague that there's been far more parody in the East over these years. Is Weird Al Yankovic playing for the East? (Sorry, could not help myself). As far as PARITY goes, ScoresFromCentre did some great data mining on the 10th page of the East/West Discrepancy thread as far as goal differential between east and west over the last 17 years.I'd ague that there's been far more parody in the East over these years.
