I know that a Canadian chl player under 20 has to be sent to his junior team if the big club sends him down....but as an American kid can he not play in the A insted of being sent back to Guelph?

Nope, the rule applies to American's as well. It's a CHL rule in general, not a Canadian player rule.

I believe it applies strictly to NA players. Imports can be sent down by their teams if they wish instead of sending them back to juniors.

I think he is good enough to stay in the NHL for the full season...especially in Deadmarsh and Allison are injured for awhile longer.
