Always sucks to loose a 1st, but hard not to like this trade
We overpaid, but we gave up futures that weren't White, Brown and Chabot.
We are Cup contenders and we're going for it now. Welcome, Matt Duchene.
This was all very weird , Duchene only had 41 points last season.
How are we going to re-sign Duchene if we couldn't get Turris to sign a reasonable 6x6 deal?
Couldn't re-sign Turris 6x6 really?
I honestly can't believe we lost Turris, a 1st, a 2nd, Hammond and Bowers for Duchene, whom I still insist on saying is no better than Turris at this point in their respective c
So we give up:
We get Duchene?
That's not bad...
So, we must really like Duchene then?
If we can't re-sign Turris to the contract he just got, how are the Sens going to re-sign Duchene?
Especially when Karlsson is up for a new contract as well the same year.
We'll have to get rid of Phaneuf or Ryan somehow.
Turris, who was walking
Hammond, cap dump
1st and Bouwers that are worth nothing close to Duchene
I'd like to hear Dorion's rationale.
Would Turris at 6x6 really have been so disastrous?
Good thing we paid steeply for an extra year of a guy who’s going to demand even more.
And a 3rd too, just for fun.
If we are contenders we should be loading up on experience, not dumping experience for youth.
Turris has loads of playoff experience. He has scored some clutch, clutch goals for us.
We are still in need of a forward.
Context matters, having Duchene signed an extra year IMO is huge and he is a small but appreciable upgrade over Turris
Giving up the 1st was IMO the only thing that sucked, Bowers was expendable at this point given our prospect depth (Brown White Chlapik) at C
Looks like a vast overpayment so far. Have to see what is coming back to Ottawa with Duchene.
Difference between Turris and Duchene is NOT worth Bowers+1st - that should go without saying.
Turris wouldn't sign 6x6 in Ottawa from what we've heard, so his Nashville signing isn't relevant to analyzing this trade imo
I am fine with giving up Hammond and Bowers.
Hammond is an ahl goalie. Bowers is still a prospect.
The 1st will be a hard pill to swallow though if the Sens don't improve.
That's terrible. Do you really think the difference between Turris and Duchene is a 1st, a 3rd, and a first round prospect? We paid waaay too much. We should have gotten at least one of the pieces in the deal, but no we just get Duchene. I like Duchene, but not at this price.
Nothing is coming back. Ottawa has to give up more to unload Hammond
Can't edit my post above. But anyway, I can't believe we gave up that much AND Turris signed a super team-friendly deal elsewhere. Not happy with this deal at all.
