He intercepted seven passes, six of which came in the first eight games...He had three interceptions called back because of penalties away from the play.

Cherry was also the Chiefs second leading tackler...with 110 stops.

Kansas City Chiefs safety Deron Cherry is one of the best defensive backs in the NFL. Deron joined the Chiefs as a punter in 1981. Since switching to safety, he has had more than 40 interceptions, the most by any player during that span.

Last year he set the team record for takeaways with 13.
