How strong and depth filled is this draft this year, 2005?
The first big drop off comes after Crosby, but that solely a reflection of his unique talent. The next three or four guys would not look one bit out of place if Crosby didn't exist and they were all jockeying for first overall in any other year. The top guys like Brule, Johnson and Pouliot are all potential 1st overalls in most years.
The top end is pretty good, there isn't a ton of depth and the draft is really lacking in goaltending only. None of the goalies are as good as the top guys we have had over the last few years.
