I have since last summer said that NHL GMs won’t underrate Tkachuk. I could definitely see him go 2.
I don’t at all get the talk of him dropping down towards the 10th pick...
I can't believe Chicago of all teams is going to draft in front of the NYR.
Draft Kane and Toews. Dominance. 3 Cups.
Two first round exists.
One horrific season. Draft in front of the NYR.
Give me high peaks and low valleys over constant mediocrity every time.
Honestly, it really rubs me the wrong way that the Rangers are called "consistently mediocre". Consistently mediocre are the Hurricanes or the Rangers of the dark ages. The Rangers have been consistently good but not great.
Tkachuk isn't "second overall" good though...
Think highly of Kravtsov just as much as the next but are we really gonna take him over Bouchard/dobson/Farabee if we have the 9th pick?
I have him at like 7.Tkachuk being picked is only good for 3 and 4.
I'd move him for a top 3 pick but that's about it.
I think you're undervaluing Kreider quite a bit. He's not that consistent to receive a top 3 pick, IMO.

I think we all get caught up in the "futures" club on this board a little too much. Some teams who are close to winning a cup will take the risk and take a top 6 forward if that puts in Cup contention over a draft pick (even if that kid turns out to be a good player)I don't see why NYR would move him, is all I'm saying.
A top 3 pick, in this draft especially, is gonna cost an arm and a leg. A high end prospect, another high draft choice and a middle six forward/defenseman. Kreider alone won't get the 3rd overall. He isn't Kessel and I don't think Gorton will overpay.

But we're talking about teams who have been missing playoffs for years. Why would they want just Kreider when they could have Svechnikov or Zadina?
Potential Laine > Mediocre Kessel
Which would you rather take? I'm not trying to sound rash, but I think logically a rebuilding, lower end team would want the potential superstar.
I don’t think they move him, either. I think they’re watching him to see if he steps up as a leader. He’s already shown to be a strong influence on Zibanejad and Buch.
Why are you guys so high on Kravtsov?
That's my point. You don't think he knows his team has some solid pieces that can win? Yes they can and he might be inclined enough to make a move like that. You do know Chiarelli did bring the Oilers up for a good playoff run last year, right?
He also might trade good/high end players for downgradesThat's my point. You don't think he knows his team has some solid pieces that can win? Yes they can and he might be inclined enough to make a move like that.
FYI, I love Chris Kreider. I don't want to trade him, just throwing ideas out there that do make some sense.
Ha. Fair point. He also might trade good/high end players for downgrades
Cough klefbom cough

He’s lighting up the KHL playoffs right now, and from the few clips I’ve seen of him, he’s a big kid that skates well and has some really nifty hands. Already has a pro-sized frame and is coming off a strong MHL year last season. Steve K likes him tooWhy are you guys so high on Kravtsov?
