I wonder if Orr would have gotten the ok from the coach doing his end-to-end rushes in todays hockey? The game is much tighter and the smallest slip of a d-man creates a scoring opportunity. And if a d-man today is more inclined to participate in the offense people are fast labeling him as a forward, e.g. Mike Green.

Back to the question. This sums it up nice:
