Does bringing Hamhuis back 1-2 years make sense?

Think it may be more like:

Lindell - Klingberg
Methot - Johns
Heiskanen - Honka
Heatherington/Pateryn

Pateryn at 1-1.5mil is good enough value for Stars to keep.

And, they might swap Methot with Honka and put Heiskanen with Johns for more balanced pairs, L-R, Stay at home - puck mover, etc. They can still pair Methot - Johns in special situations.

Hitch said Hamuis and Patyrn have to be sheltered against physical lines, favoring Johns and Methot for tougher assignments now. That doesn't bode well for Dan H.

It doesnt bode well for Pateryn. Hamhuis is the driving force of that pair and Pateryn is tagging along. If Hamhuis starts to regress a bit (like he looks like he is doing) its only going to expose the true 6/7D that Pateryn is

It really doesn’t matter too much. Hanhuis AND pateryn have saved our asses at times this year. That pair has played some tough minutes. Johns has recently really stepped up his game, likely benefitting from methot. Not gonna sit here and act like johns has played even close to this well all season

Johns had been good for us just about the entire time he played without Oleksiak. Coincidentally his play this year got way better once we traded the 6'7 boat anchor.

As for Pateryn he hurts us offensively just about as much as he helps defensively

It makes way more sense to put money into Hamhuis for a year and move Methot than to pray Methot can play 40 games in a season.

Agree with Misty on this one. Hamhuis would be a great mentor for Heiskanen also
