In all seriousness though, it's funny to see him sign with an NL team after he supposedly complained about not getting enough playing time

He's pretty much only going to pinch hit

Honestly he should have just retired quietly

Going to look odd watching him as a Dodger who will only pinch hit or play sparingly

Tbh NL vs AL shouldn't even matter that much, certainly not as much as joining a good team vs a bad one. Sure Pujols is old but the reason he shouldn't be playing every day or starting games isn't that he can't play his position, its that he's an awful hitter now.

Could this be a sign Bellinger has had a setback?

Nah. It's because DJ Peters and Sheldon Neuse can't hit. Right now they have only one guy they can use to pinch hit, especially against lefties. And Pujols is better than those guys against lefties.

Pujols is 7 for 27.

It was probably either that deal or none. Beggars can’t be choosers.

Why would Dodgers sign him?

I think the Dodgers have very few bench players capable of hitting lefties right now, so they signed him to be a lefty-mashing PH.

Of course, Pujols doesn't actually do much "lefty-mashing." Maybe "lefty-gentle-chewing." So they really signed him because he used to be ALBERT PUJOLS (back when Blockbuster was a thing).

As others said to me, they have no bats off the bench, Pujols might not be great but he's better than what they have in that role.
Encarnacion, Kemp and Cespedes are just as good as Pujols right now (if not better) and can’t get a sniff this season, let alone a 2nd chance.

Pujols may be filling a bench bat need, but he was signed because of his name and accomplishments.

Pujols comes cheap too compared to those three guys would make due to Pujols’ contract with the Angels.
