Rumors out of Nashville say that top prospect Jiri Hudler, who lit up the AHL last season is not happy with his situation in Nashville. There has been no official word yet, but it is believed that Hudler and his agent sat down with GM Kapfenberger to find out about his plans for next season. Apparently Kapfenberger has no plans to sign Hudler for next season and therefor Hudler wants to try his luck elsewhere. Nashville will probably look for a high draft pick or another prospect. Don't expect something to happen before draft day, but talks about Hudler will be held for sure.

News in the Hudler-topic are that a deal has been reached with a yet-to-be-named Eastern Conference team. It is rumored the deal includes a high draft pick in the 2006 entry draft.

On the topic of unconfirmed trades, Rich, did you get the one between me and Dave? We both sent it to you about 5 days ago and haven't heard anything, and it has implications on the draft, of which the trade freeze is tomorrw so it just made me a bit weary.

In a press conference early on Wednesday morning, Nashville GM Tony Kapfenberger confirmed a deal has been made. "We shipped Jiri out because he obviously wasn't satisfied with the situation here. We also felt with his approach to play hockey, which is certainly not a bad one, he is nevertheless not a good fit at our club. We wish him all the best in Ottawa."
Going to Ottawa is also a 5th round selection in the 06 draft as well as an undisclosed amount of cash. Nashville acquired the 19th overall selection in this years draft, originally the New York Islanders pick, as well as 2 3rd round selection in that deal. "We are really looking forward to the draft, cause we feel, we have put ourselves in a very comfortable position, as well as having luck in winning the lottery and getting the first overall pick." Kapfenberger said.
The team is expected to pick american defenseman Erik Johnson first overall on Saturday.

Yo Ed,

I heard a rumour from a friend in Nashville, that the Preds might swing for the fences and pick Andreas Nodl with the #1 pick. Apparently, the GM has a Pierre McGuire man-crush on this kid.

Scouting Report from McKapfenbergers.rivals.com:
Nödl already is the complete package. He is fast, really fast, thats what lifts him over fellow countryman Thomas Vanek. He has a goalscorers mind, but he is also patient with the puck and knows when to pass and when to shoot. He has shown good two-way awareness and willingness to play defense.
NHL career projection: Mario-Lemieux-like offensive abilities, Pavel Bure's speed and Mike Peca's two-way game.

So, why not??
