I would have to rewatch but I thought Zacha was soon after he took that penalty.

I also recall Mojo making a really bad turnover in the defensive zone late in the first (though maybe I'm thinking of someone else).

I don't really remember Hayes doing anything really terrible.

I dont think it's suspension-worthy, but how it wasn't judged a double-minor is completely beyond me.

Kinky kept the Devils in the game in the 1st period, it could have been over after the 1st ten minutes as the Rangers came out flying and the Devils were flat.

The Devils were meh for chunks of this game, and played pretty well for other chunks of the game. I'm not worried as this was a 3 in 4 for the Devils and it was not for the Rangers.

If I was a Ranger fan, I'd be worried, however, as they do not look like a playoff team to me.

It took a little for them to get going and I think Kinkaid showed what made him the first choice for backing up Schneider. His team hasnt seemed to have had any doubts.
I think with many mid 20's and younger, the youth and speed can wear teams down. As long as they can stay in a game they will always have a chance to win.

Mojo definitely was the one with the turnover in the 1st period. Probably one of the most high quality chances against in the 1st period. There were many.

Going to be a tough week. Ottawa has some defensive issues, so hopefully we can exploit that. Tampa is going to be a very difficult game even if we play perfectly.

After those three games we're off for a week. Great scheduling.

That's going to be one week that will be utter hell with zero Devils hockey to watch upon getting home from Work. bah.

This is for anyone in the conversation...

Just watch the highlights on the game on nhl.com. The 1st really good scoring chance where Kinkaid makes a nice left pad save on a player that’s receives a pass right in front of the crease and both Zacha and Mojo are in sight but not covering anyone. Assuming that’s on the center. Next highlight is a ranger walking right in on Kinkaid after a blind drop pass to no one that was done by Mojo. Next highlight in the early second is the reach back save by Kinkaid on Hayes and Zacha line is out there again. That’s just 3 plays and 3 ridiculous scoring chances.

Yup. Anyone criticizing Hynes yesterday is out to lunch. Good on him for making the right decision to bench those players. They didn't come to play.

I noticed most of that, and I figured that's what led to the benching. Zacha also took a couple offensive zone penalties. One last night and one in the Capitals game on Friday night. I'd have to think that pissed off Hynes too.

Strangely enough, we won 2 of 3 on the Western Canada trip last year. And didn't we play Minnesota on that same trip, which we also won? For as bad as we were from November-onward, that was one of the bright spots. We had like a ridiculous road winning streak at one point in January/February, if I recall correctly.

A lot of the fanbase is rather irrational right now. I see a lot of issues that are being glossed over due to our win/lost record. The way we are playing is unsustainable, and mirrors that of a Toronto Leafs team from a few years ago that was repeatedly hemorrhaging shots on goals, but winning anyway. Hopefully, the defense tightens up, our positioning improves, and we stop taking penalties.

It's super early and they are learning who they are as a team. How to end games, what's the defense going to look like, how are you going to handle the other team pulling its goalie, etc. Yep there are a lot of issues. Let's see how it goes. At least we seem to be able to finish our chances, to score. My God that is a difference from the past three seasons. We are putting the puck in the net. Not score no compete. So I am real happy about that.

Cowardly elbow by Nash on a player 15 years younger/35 pounds less than him.

Can't wait for the unceremonious end to his Ranger career in seven months.

Said it in the GDT, but it bears repeating. The guy is the most overrated, overhyped player of the last two decades. The epitome of a guy who tries to get by solely on his talent. Never am I ever concerned that Rick Nash is out on the ice. Because what it boils down to is that he would be the last guy I would ever want to go with into a winner takes all, series deciding game. As he's proven time and again, he is a ghost when it matters.

That elbow set off a thousand angry fires in my soul. But my disdain for Rick Nash is strong.

He'll definitely be taking a pay cut wherever he signs. Even though he's not particularly old, nobody is paying a near $8M cap hit for a guy who may score 25 goals IF he stays healthy. I think it's a really tough call putting a cap value on what he's worth as a UFA.

Meh, we should all be Rick Nash fans anyway. He cost them Dubinsky, Anisimov, and a 1st Round pick, and I'd probably rather have Anisimov on my team than Rick Nash at this point at $3.3M less per year.

He won't be suspended because he barely clipped Nicos helmet, not his head. The helmet was jostled but his head was not hit. Dirty hit regardless.

I know you're being sarcastic but I would at least want to have a win prior to that long week.
I definitely want some wins as well, but the board will be in full meltdown for a week if we don't.

If Nico gets hurt by that elbow, Nash is suspended at least 3. Now I don't see the sense of the "no harm, no foul rule." If the move is suspensions worthy, suspend him.

It's not just hockey, it seems pretty much all sports leagues work this way. I agree, it's dumb.

By this principle it's less egregious to fire a gun at someone multiple times and miss than to bump into them and knock them down resulting in a sprained wrist. It's utterly ludicrous to judge based solely on the outcome with no regard for the potential danger of the action. Shooting a gun at someone and missing might result in less injury than bumping into them, but one clearly has a far greater potential danger.

I think we should be bummed that his Rangers career is ending in 7 months.

Fresh cap space that they won't be using to sign him.
