I would love to add someone like Darnell Nurse from Edmonton.

We're lacking some size and toughness on our blueline and the guy can skate real well for a big man. If the Oilers are looking to add a right handed d-man, Severson might be of interest.

I know some of you will freak out but I'd consider a package of Nurse + Lucic + picks for Severson + Lovejoy. The pick would have to be their 2nd round pick or maybe flip 1st round picks.

Lucic is still effective but his contract is the reason why everyone doesn't want him. Adding some muscle to our team is almost as important as adding a legit top pairing dman to our left side IMO. I think we're real soft and we get pushed around way too much for my liking.

lolwut?

I know it's Chiarelli but you really think he's THAT stupid to give up Darnell f'n Nurse for our crap? :tvhappy:

All that matters is that our 3rd best forward is back. MoJo helps the team mightily.

Grabner sitting is the right move. I would have put in Bratt over Stafford, but hopefully Stafford plays like his NHL career is on the line (hint: it might just be).

Would prefer Mueller over Moore, but I knew we wouldn't get that.

i agree, i'd love to see bratt in...but with mojo back, he'd be relegated to 4th line duties, where he wouldn't really have any impact. so i'm good with staff

Edmonton would be more likely to give up Klefbom than Nurse. Klefbom did not have a great year

He didn’t want to bring back Mogilny either lol, that Stan segment is still on YT believe it or not, that McKay44whatever dude who posts a lot of random old Devil videos has that postgame where Stan eviscerated the team.

‘I talked to Mike Milbury who said Mogilny wasn’t worth a $3 million contract’
He said that Mogilny? God, I don't even remember that one! Probably because I f***in HATED Sean O'Donnell more than any deadline acquisition up to that point and was probably cheering on Stan after that segment.

Sean O'Donnell was four rounds + however many regular season games worth of useless space junk, compared to 21 or 22 regular season games and 2 playoff games.

Holy hose job, Batman! That Severson and Lovejoy for Nurse and Lucic proposal. Nurse isn’t that good, he’s Larsson 2.0 and just because Larsson 1.0 was able to acquire such an elite talent, doesn’t mean that Larsson 2.0 is going to be the centerpiece in another lopsided trade. It happened the first time because their GM is an idiot, I don’t think ours is. And he’s surely not dumb enough to let the guy he conned on the Larsson deal get even by pulling one over on him.

I think Grabner has been as useless as Jacob Josefson, but to be fair to him we’ve been using him as a fourth liner a lot and that’s exactly the kind of production that we’ve gotten out of him. His 50+ goals over the last two years were beyond fluky. It’s not often that flukiness lasts for more than a year. I didn’t like the trade much for the fact that I was afraid we’d be re-signing him, which I think the chances of that happening now are 0% and nothing more. I appreciated Shero trying to improve the team by getting him, but was always worried about what his next deal would look like.

Computer, pull up Darnell Nurse’s most common line mates and d parter. 54% of the time with Adam Larsson. A little bit easier to play with than John ****ing Moore. I wonder how many minutes he played with the best player in the NHL? I wonder how that impacted his +/-?

I'm surprised that they didn't try Grabner on the right wing before scratching him. Who care what side he likes better, he played well on the right side before. He's been terrible though so I have no issue with scratching him, not a fan of Stafford coming in though.

Not a fan of Maroon on that line... I would've prefered Wood since we know he already has chemistry with Pavel and can actually keep up with his 2 other linemates.

Just to play Devil's advocate, Maroon has been pretty effective with NJ. He's the changeup to the fastball the other players present. That said, in the third period last game, the whole line looked pretty good. My guess is that MarJo in the lineup is a hail mary type play and if he doesn't create instant offense we'll see Wood back with PZ.

Maroon has been excellent overall and he’s been overly criticized for his lack of speed. Despite that, he’s created offense at 5 on 5 and has helped the PP. We really need Zacha to make an impact, he’s been an offensive black hole.

Stafford and Boyle together? Great...

Hynes is not being smart again

LJ has been disgraceful yet he's in.
What has Boyle done?
I'd rather see Grabner since he can skate.

Bratt should be in.
Stafford is useless too.

The PK will suffer with speed being scratched.

I'd much rather see Bratt in over Stafford. Let the kid play over the veteran who coasted in most games he played this year

As to the forwards, this means Hynes wants to go with a heavier game. He saw the forecheck in the third period on Saturday and that's the game he wants. In effect, it's the only way we can beat them. A run and gun game is a loser between us and them. Our D just can't handle their forwards when they come at us with speed. Obviously, we need to clog up the neutral zone on Defense, forecheck and play in their end as much as possible on offense, and hope Schneider has a great game.

I don't know what his thinking is on Muellar but it may have to do with pairings and having Severson in, as much as it does with Muellar himself.

If Johanson does play, I can hardly believe it. The guy is going to be seriously rusty. Yet if there's a chance to go deeper into this series, getting him game minutes is the only way to cure the rust.

You make an excellent point about the style of play, but that begs the question of what the team is trying to build. They spend picks and assets to double down on fast and attacking and make the playoffs. Then, Hynes realizes the heavier forecheck is what works. No question the third period the team looked different but does this mean that the team has gone too far towards speed? It's not realistic over the long haul to play one way all season and then all of a sudden it's the playoffs and now they need to be heavy. I think we are just ahead of Shero's curve most likely. In two years when Nico and Bratt are a bit sturdier and playing with Hall and Wood PZ and Palms are a legit second line it's a different series.

I get wanting Bratt’s speed in but I think Hynes is right not to use him. He’d get eaten alive, Tampa doesn’t give you time and space and he hasn’t been making quick or correct decisions with the puck.

I know the resolution sucks, but why does 2001 look like it's 30 years ago now? Haha.

I watched this live back in 2001, I just can't remember if I watched it over at my buddy's place where he lived with a roommate or if we watched this at my grandparents place, which is where I lived at the time. I know it was me, one of our good friend's and Cage Helmet. My then-girlfriend would watch some games with me, but not all of them. Whenever she wasn't watching and the Devils would win, I'd send her a devil emoji thing on either Yahoo or AIM, one of the instant messengers. It was code for ''Devils won''. I'd send her an angry, mean looking one for when the Devils lost.

Those were the days!
