If Vats is 1RHD going forward then it would be fantastic to find him a rock to play with who is also good at the transition to help Vats play his game. I think Vatanen can florish on the first pairing with a good partner. He is even doing well with Greene out there. A Greene upgrade would be huge. Maybe Mueller shows something in camp next year as well.

You would have celebrated Kinkaid for putting up those numbers in the early part of the season, let’s be real. Also, if the first half is so easy then why was Kinkaid putting up a laughable save percentage and couldn’t stop a beach ball? You’re logic hurts you.

I am calling out someone who is nitpicking the goalies when both deserve love and hate. I said many times Kinkaid deserves all the credit he deserves for this recent run, but he also deserved the critiscm for his play early in the year just like Cory deserves the credit for his first half and deserves the criticism of his second half.

Zajac was listed at 205-210 in college, so he's actually leaner now than he was back then. Also, his bad haircuts have apparently always been a thing.

Kind of like Don Cherry with his bad suits.

I wouldn't count on Mueller. I would keep him to be a guy who competes as a spot and most likely ends up being the #7 D. I'd be looking to bring in someone to be an update over Moore and hopefully play on the top pair.

I'm not counting on MJ coming back this season, it would be nice if he could but there hasn't been much indication that it is possible. Once Maroon is back, hopefully that pushes Stafford to the press box because at this point he is just taking up a spot. Curious who would sit once Zacha is back. I would guess Bratt, not sure I would want to do that though, but all the forwards (outside of Stafford) are playing well.

I really hope Shero is really agressive in free agency this offseason.

Hopefully a Devils makes the playoffs and then Harris (after seeing playoff success) gives Shero the green light to spend big.

My list:
Tavares - Make a godfather offer to lure him across the Hudson. I think he re-signs with Islanders but I want Devils to be a bidder.
Carlson - Best dman on the market, we would be crazy not to try and sign him. If we can snare him, Shero will then have a valuable asset in Severson/Santini to flip to get LHD help.
JVR/Kane/Neal- I want to kick the tyres on these trio to find out their price first before considering re-signing Maroon. We could use JVR or Neal to help the power play. And Evander Kane’s speed is a good fit with our fast team.
Grabner - I want him re-signed. Slowly coming good for NJ. Perfect 3rd liner. I’m not expecting 25-30 goals next season. I’ll gladly take 20 in addition to his speed and PK ability.
Gibbons - Perfect 4th liner. Must be re-signed.
Maroon - I don’t mind him but only re-sign him if we can’t get an upgrade in JVR/Neal/Kane.
Moore - It will be really interesting what Shero does at the draft. If he trades for LHD (like a Jonas Brodin) then Moore’s papers are probably marked at free agency that he will depart NJ. If no trades happen at the draft, then he is a chance to re-sign.

I do not have much interest in JVR/Kane/Neal unless the term is short. We have enough depth on the wing assuming MJ comes back healthy. JVR is going to get paid so I personally would not consider him for what he is going to get.

Grabner is still to be decided, need a bigger sample size. But I would definitely not consider anything over 3 years.

To ding Kinkaid because he had a less than stellar save % after 15 games as a backup and discredit any of his successes this season is sour grapes.

And god damn if I didn't take the most shit for being one of his biggest defenders. A lot of people should be eating a lot of crow for their overreaction to a player that legitimately saved our season (so far).

I definitely see Shero fishing for both Doughty and Karlsson in the off-season via trade. I would be curious to see how Doughty would look in the East.

I don't see people discrediting Kinkaid so much as just wanting people to be consistent in their criticism.

Maybe, but Severson is making 4.16. Vatanen is making 4.75. Carlson or any RD that would be an improvement would be making 8+.

Devils might be able to absorb it for the next year or two, but that's an expensive right side. You also have Santini itching for a spot as well somewhere in there.
