Does Sproul have upside?

Great tools with no toolbox. He hasn't gotten a ton better defensively and he needed to get a lot better there.

Good offensive weaponry should he ever figure out enough to be trusted. Currently cannot be trusted even as a 3rd pairing PP specialist because of what a liability he is defensively. He skates well and has a cannon for a shot. Maybe he could put it together late, hard to be excited anymore since we have seen a ton of him and he has stalled with the Wings. I wish him luck though.

Cool, thanks.

Puempel should have made the Rangers out of camp. Solid bottom 6 guy in my opinion when called upon. I liked him last year and when he did play in camp/preseason this one.

Gonna guess NYR moves Holden for a F at some point so this is depth on D w Sproul

Both guys needed a change

Interesting! Another DET to NYR trade after we traded Brendan Smith

What's the word on Puempel? Strengths and weaknesses overall?

Edit: Looks like Sheahan just got traded to Pit

That about says it. He has every tool you want. He's just not put it together. I like Sproul and still think he can be an NHL player. The game just hasn't slowed down for him yet.

If people remember, Puempel was the guy Detroit was going to draft until they traded out of the pick with Ottawa.

This is a trade that makes sense. Two guys who have missed opportunities, probably getting another shot at some point in the league. MP replaces Frk for the most part in GR and can come up in a top six bind. The chance he ever plays a bottom six role is pretty small and he doesnt offer enough to be a legit top six guy.

Flip a coin type trade and hope for the best....

Seemed like a nice enough guy but that's not what he was in the organization for. How much of a chance does he actually have of cracking the lineup? I'm guessing this is his last shot at proving he's an NHL caliber player
