I feel that he is getting a little too fancy at times. I forget what game it was, but it was early in the game, first few minutes, and he got the puck right in front of the net, and was all alone. He put the puck behind him, by going threw his legs and put a weak shot on net. Yes, it was a cool move, would have been high light material, but the game was 0 - 0 and that was not the time or place. Then against, I think the Isle, he had a one on one and tried another
fancy move. Not so upset with that one, since he had to beat a guy to get to the tender.

He is an amazing talent, and fun to watch. Seems to have a great and infectious attitude. Glad he is signed long term.

I don't mind the creativity. I agree he can sometimes be too fancy, especially when we have possession, but if he has a chance and wants to be creative, it's better for him to show confidence even if he only finishes 50% of the time. I remember that break against Nashville he was in a bit of an odd position, and it was a pretty nice move. Just had to elevate it a bit. He's on the longest consecutive point streak in the league right now, and he just passively creates points because of the line he's on.

It's important for them to have fun, too. I think a big reason why they did so poorly for those two years (in addition to having an aging, slow team of vets past their shelf life) is because there were so many expectations on them that were impossible to achieve, and their old style of playing wasn't working anymore. They were losing, and when they won, it was boring. They're now a young, fast, and skilled team and I think it shows on the ice. The 2011 group was a very tight-knit group and I think these guys are meshing together very well. I think it's great for them to be creative and push each other to score a "cooler" goal than the other. I see that a lot with Pasta and Marchand... It seems like if one has a big game, the other does too. Might be because it's on the same line, but I think it's because they get pissed off that they're not the star of the game.

Can we talk about how phenomenal this player is? He continues to show that he has the skill and drive to be a top player in the league. It almost feels like he has been in the league forever and isn't part of the "kid movement" - but he is younger than some of these kids coming on to the team at just 21! I am so glad we signed this kid for what seems like it will be a steal of a contract. I think he is flying under the radar a bit despite producing at a great rate because he isn't carrying the team like he was at the beginning of last season...can't complain that we have other players producing this time!

I don't want to see him change a thing. The turnovers sometimes bite you but creative players need to try things and some of those attempts are going to fail. The shot through the legs, a risky pass... it's the cost of doing business with a guy who creates offense by surprising people with what he's going to do next.

Plus, it's not like he doesn't care, he backchecks, he hits, he battles. Other offensive guys we had here recently who were turnover problems early in their careers didn't have the same battle factor as Pasta. Coaches can be more forgiving of the odd bad pass when the same player wins more than his share of 50/50 pucks.

Bottom line, he's awesome, and the Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak line could be the most entertaining line this team has seen since Juneau-Oates-Neely.

There certainly a difference between turn overs and being lazy and soft defensively. He has problems with the former, but it's a product of him playing a higher risk offensive game. There are time and places where you can't be making those turnovers, but on the whole he should just continue what hes doing because he's starting to dominate.

I don't think he has any problems with being soft or lazy defensively. He's physical at times and usually engaged defensively. When I think soft and poor defensively I think (as Bruins) Kessel, Spooner, Janney, Seguin.

You make a lot of solid points but didn't you read yesterday's game day thread. If it taught this poster anything - this team does not need a 21 year old point producing winger on a great, value added contract. He makes mistakes and this is clearly unacceptable! :help:

A good line wins with a variety of skill sets, not just one. That should be apparent with the lack of success of the Marchand - Bergeron - Eriksson line in the past. Bergeron and Marchand together are the best defensive forward line in the game, giving them a offensive oriented guy allows the offensive guy play his game and minimize his mistakes. Not everyone has to play a 'two way game'

The best offensive players also turn the puck over the most, because the puck is always on their stick and they are trying to do something with it.

His turnovers are definitely from playing risky. We can hope that the turnovers will decrease with time and maturity as he figures out when he can be riskier. I've noticed a decrease in the turnovers the past few weeks...or maybe I'm just imagining that.

I've definitely noticed that as well. Blue line turnovers are never ok regarless of how much you produce and I think Pastrnak cleaned that part of his game up.

Considering that we haven't had a 40 goal scorer since 2002-2003, I am just sitting back and enjoying the show. If the top line stays healthy I could see Pastrnak potentially reaching 90 points.

Man I really miss Adam Oates. He was such an incredible offensive centerman. He's twice the player Krejci is imo. In his prime, Oates produced over 100 points a season. And he was never less than a 1 ppg player with the B's.

Honestly I am wondering when we will find someone to replace Krejci. He's just too inconsistent and injury prone to be the B's #1 Center imo. He's also a bit overpaid for what he brings and he's on the wrong side of 30. Really wish we had held onto Seguin and actually given him his own line to center instead of wasting his talents at winger in his time in Boston.

Oh and back to Pastrnak. Yeah he's the real deal, next level kind of player. I'm so relieved we didn't screw up his contract extension. The Pasternak era is here for another 6 years!

I'd like to give Heinen a shot at center next season. If I can see anyone in the system stepping into a top 6 center role, it's him.

Is he a center though? If not, leave him where he's accelerating.

I came across this gif on twitter today and thought it was pretty cool.

No wonder the Bruin fans love Pasta.

Pasta is an unbelievable talent and is going to score over 30 goals for the 2nd straight yr an incredible feat for a 21 yr old but I feel his production would be even better away from Bergeron and Marchand.

I know Cassidy likes all his best eggs in one basket which will all shine brightly but I feel Pasta will shine even brighter playing along side a healthy Krejci and Debrusk. Hopefully when they decide Spooners done keeping Bjorks spot warm and they call him back up they'll have Bjork play with Bergeron and Marchand as he did at the start of the season and he looked very good there until his injury and then they slide Pastrnak along side Krejci.

I agree with most of this, except that Bjork should go straight back to first line duty. He’s not ready for that yet, no reason to rush him.

Spooner and Krejci are both pass first guys. Swap Pastrnak and Spooner and it gives Spooner two players that shoot more and Krejci gets a goal scorer. Makes the lines more balanced I think.

He should probably start to shoot the puck more. Simplify his game for a bit. His shots per 60 minutes this year is lowest it has been in his career. Other than that I have no issues with his play.

THIS. When he came into the league he shot the puck like a maniac. All the great goal scorers shoot the puck a ton. He definitely needs to get back to that. With Bergeron & Marchand as your linemates you know they are gonna jump on rebounds too. No reason not to shoot. In fact Bergeron needs to shoot more too.
