I figured it would be worthwhile to set up another thread to make our actual selections in. I'll skim over the most important rules here...

-6 hour time limit

-PM the person after you in the draft (courtesy thing)

-25 rounds long (draft at least 20 players)

-salary cap of $50M, $5M cap for your farm team

-salaries from last year (see USAToday.com, if you don't have the link, I can post it)

-all drafted players including 2004 draftees are eligible

Last season? Noooooo. NEXT season please. Or as there was a 2004-05 season. Playing as if it was last season just brings out the stat junkies and discounts players you think will be on the rebound next season.

Sorry guys (and girls if there are any here), I didn't mean to hold things up but I haven't gotten a chance to spend much time online.

There are a few things that perhaps need to be said here. First of all, please be sure to PM the person after you. We all forget sometimes and that's cool, but do your best to remember and try to be diligent in that area. I think it's a proven fact it will help the draft go more quickly if you do...

Also, Nomis you seem to be under the impression that the time limit is 24 hours. It is actually 12 hours. With that said, I ask you guys to be a bit "loosey-goosey" in this area as it is the first round after all. But don't be too kind, except to me...

Yeah that's about it, I realize I am up and will make my picks in like two minutes. BTW, if you guys want to talk trade, I'm all over that, but whatever is cool with you. Might make things more interesting though...

Maybe, but hey, I figure he's probably the top prospect there is and seeing as this is hockeysFUTURE I might as well grab him. He'll be a good one too. The Carolina Hurricanes will select right winger Dany Heatley. His legal charges notwithstanding (it's fantasy hockey), he is an amazing two way player who is clutch and is emerging as a leader also. Once he develops he will be one of the best all around players in the league!

I guess I should address a few of the questions put up in the other thread too eh?

Not only will we have to come up with salaries for 2004 draftees but also for all prospects and NHL players whose salaries cannot find at USAToday.com. Here's my system:

$1M for a first round pick
$900K for a second round pick
$800K for a third round pick
etc...

The salary cap applies to your 20 man roster, but there will be a seperate cap of $8M (and I'm willing to listen to any suggestions here if anyone thinks that's too high or low) on the "farm" team so people don't stack their farm team with guys like Pierre Turgeon or something ridiculous like that.
