Danrik’s Fantasy Draft – Rules and Regulations

1) There will be 15 GMs (and each GM will have an assistant GM), each running two NHL teams. The draft order will be random and determined by the commissioner (Danrik), with each GM having his team doing back to back picks. Each GM will have 12 hours to make his selections and must PM the person after him in the draft to let him know that he is up. If you do not make your pick on time, you will be skipped over, to make your pick at a later time. If you fail to make your picks on time 3 times, you will be kicked out of the draft and replaced by your assistant GM. If you have a good reason for not making your picks on time, be sure to let Danrik know. If you are going away, your assistant GM will run your team in your absence, but if you are both going away, be sure to let me know and give me a list so I can make your pick for you.
2) You may select any player who has been drafted or signed by an NHL team, but NOT any undrafted player. If you make an invalid pick, you will be skipped over and allowed to make your pick at another time.
3) You must build a 23 man roster. You must draft at least two goalies, six defensemen and 12 forwards plus three extra players of your choice as depth.
4) There will be a $50 million salary cap. Salaries will be according to NHLPA.com. If the salary can not be found at NHLPA.com, then refer to the following salary system:
$1 million for a first round draft pick
$800,000 for a second round draft pick
$600,000 for a third round draft pick
$400,000 for a fourth round draft pick
$250,000 for a fifth round draft pick (or any pick lower), also for any undrafted player playing in the AHL
5) Trades are permitted, but you must do equal quantity trades. That means, if you trade two draft picks away, you get two in return. If you trade three, then you get back three.

The draft order is zig-zag.

The draft will start as soon as Barnaby3636 is ready. I will be lenient with the 12 hour time limit in the first round, but only the first round.

First off, thanks for thanking me. I really don't mind doing this sort of a thing - it's fun for everyone. So you're most certainly welcome.

It seems you're a tad bit confused my friend. The Sharks (your second team) were to pick 2nd overall. I know I wasn't very clear in my PM, so sorry. I'll just assume that you will pick Kovalchuk anyways.

Malakian#13 has had plenty of time. LoudmouthHemskyfan#2 has asked me to pick for him as he is away. The Coyotes are taking right winger Dany Heatley 5th overall and the Buffalo Sabres are taking center Joe Thornton 6th overall.

PensFan95 is on the clock and Malakian#13 has two skipped picks to make up

The Vancouver Canucks are pleased to select the leading scorer in the NHL last year, right winger Martin St. Louis. In St. Louis, the Canucks have a player who can play in all situations and elevates his game in key situations. He is a great skater with a great set of hands and dogged determination. The Canucks are thrilled that he has such a reasonable $1.5 million salary, thus making him a shoo-in draft choice.

The Ottawa Senators are happy to select left winger Markus Naslund. Naslund is one of the best scorers in the NHL with his patented wrist shot, excellent puckhandling skills and underrated passing ability. At $5.225 million, his salary is relatively reasonable considering how good he is. The Sens consider it worth their while to invest more than a tenth of their budget in him.

First I want to thank the fans here in LA for the hospitality and being the best fans in the world. I'ts to bad we didn't know the draft was starting or else we could have drafted Luongo and Thornton .. To be honest we (I) are a little pissed off about this but hey It's only 1 round . props to barnaby for sending me a pm but I havn't checked recently as I didn't know the draft was starting and I had no picks in bandwaggons draft on the horizon. Regardless of this ....

Los Angeles selects: RW Marian Gaborik
New Jersey selects: G Jose Theodore
