So after round 15-17 the goalie situation has changed as the leading goalies have had less good periods lately.
In fact the save-% are quite close at the moment among the primary goalies.

George Sørensen (DEN) - Frederikshavn (14G): 90,8%
Teemu Seppänen (FIN) - Gentofte (15G): 90,8%
Mike Clemente (USA) - Rungsted (11G): 90,7%
Stefan Ridderwall (SVE) - Rødovre (14G): 90,6%
Jeff Frazee (USA) - Esbjerg (12G): 90,0%
Joni Myllykoski (FIN) - SønderjydskE (14G): 89,9%
Lubos Pisar (SVK) - Herning (14G): 88,5%
Tadeas Galansky (CZE) - Odense (15G): 88,3%
Marcus Lundell (SVE) - Aalborg (16G): 86,0%
Aaro Peltonen (FIN) - Herlev (16G): 84,7%

Backups:
Sebastian Feuk (DEN) - Rungsted (5G): 93,1%
Christian Larsen (DEN) - Frederikshavn (5G): 92,9%
Nikolaj Henriksen (DEN) - Esbjerg (5G): 90,1%
Jon Lee Olsen (DEN) - SønderkydskE (2G): 89,7%
Frederik Jakobsen (DEN) - Rødovre (4G): 87,5%
Simon Nielsen (DEN) - Herning (1G): 81,8%
Marc Schlaeger (DEN) - Herlev (5G): 81,3%
Jesper Wullf Pedersen (DEN) - Aalborg (1G): 60,0%

In the Point Production it is fun to see which Danish Players so far has been able to be PPG:
1) Nicolai Meyer (Aalborg) 10G 16A in 16 matches. [Has been awhile since scoring].
2) Thomas Spelling (SønderjydskE) 10G 11A in 15 matches. [Hattrick in the last game].
3) Jannik Karvinen (Rødovre) 11G 9A in 15 matches [also had a shootout winner last night, beside being the Danish forward with the most goals].
4) Kim Lykkeskov (SønderjydskE) 6G 9A in 15 matches.
17) Mathias Bau Hansen (Frederikshavn) 4G 5A in 6 matches.
------------------------------------
Close to PPG:
5) Phillip Brugisser (Rødovre) 4G 10 A in 15 matches
6) Rasmus Astrup (Rødovre) 3G 11A in 15 matches.

Round 16-17-18:

First an important bottom matches:
Rungsted - Herlev 4-2 [Shots 28-26, Morten Green finally scored for Rungsted].
Rungsted puts a good distance to the two bottom teams.
Herlev is now isolated in the bottom with Aalborg.

Aalborg - Odense 4-5 [Shots 34-32, Nicolaj Meyer 2G 1A for Aalborg & John Armstrong 2G 1A, Dale Mitchell 1G 2A for Odense].
Aalborg now isolated with Herlev in the bottom.
Odense is back winning and scoring loads after a slump.

Herning - Rødovre 5-2 [Shots 29-18, Steffen Frank 2G 1A, Daniel K Nielsen 1G 2A for Herning].
Herning has finally starting scoring and is also moving away from the bottom teams.

Gentofte - SønderjydskE 1-2 SO [Shots 27-29, Cory Quirk with penalty winnner]
SønderjydskE is still undefeated in regular time and have 4 OTW and 2 OTL.
Gentofte with another good defensive performance.

Frederikshavn - Esbjerg 4-2 [Shots 36-25].
Frederikshavn secured their second place in the league.
Esbjerg failed to catch up with Rødovre in the 3rd spot.

Production top 10: Odense is back having 4 players in the top 10 despite only being 7th out of 10 teams!

33P: 1) Dale Mitchell (CAN) - Odense: 17G 16A [League leading in goals]
29P: 2) Mario Lamoureux (USA) - Esbjerg: 16G 13A
29P: 3) Nicolai Meyer (DEN) - Aalborg: 12G 17A [Leading Dane in both goals and assists].
28P: 4) Cory Quirk (USA) - SønderjydskE: 13G 15A
26P: 5) Sean Wiles (USA) - Odense: 15G 11A
26P: 6) Robin Bergman (SWE) - Frederikshavn: 13G 13A
26P: 7) Matthew Pistilli (CAN) - Esbjerg: 10G 16A
25P: 8) Ryan McDonough (CAN) - Odense: 10G 15A
24P: 9) Adam Miller (USA) - Frederikshavn: 9G 15A
24P: 10) John Armstrong (CAN) - Odense: 6G 18A [League leading in assists].

So NA skaters takes 8 out of 10, with 4 to Canada and 4 to US!

Round 17-18:

SønderjydskE - Rungsted 0-3 [Shots 19-18, Shutout for backup Sebastian Feuk in the Rungsted net].
SønderjydskE gets their first loss in regular time this season.
Rungsted's roster finally shows their "paper strength" and puts decisive (?) distance to Herlev and Aalborg in the bottom.

Odense - Gentofte 7-2 [Shots 37-18; Dale Mitchell 2G 1A, Søren Pedersen 2G & Simon Grønvaldt 3A for Odense].
Odense's attack was lethal again.
Gentofte - who has shown good defense in many matches - really got routed this game.

Rødovre - Aalborg 4-1 [Shots 42-18].
Rødovre just way to good for Aalborg to deal with, but they avoided a blow out on the score table.

Herlev - Esbjerg 0-1 [Shots 26-31, Shutout for Nicolaj Henriksen in the Esbjerg net].
Esbjerg got a rare away-win over a Herlev team, which really needed to win this match.

Round 18-19.

Odense - Rungsted 5-4 SO [Shots 34-28, Mathias Thinnesen 2G 2A for Odense & Anthony Aquino 1g 2A for Rungsted].
Both teams get's important points to further the distance to the bottom.
Unusual with a Danish player raking up points for Odense!

Herlev - SønderjydskE 1-6 [Shots 27-27, Cory Quirk 1G 2A, Thomas Spelling 1G 2A for SønderjydskE].
Equal in shots, but top vs bottom in goals.

Gentofte - Frederikshavn 0-5 [Shots 27-28, Colin Vock 2G 2A, Adam Miller 1G 2A + Shutout for Christian Larsen all for Frederikshavn].
Gentofte did like Herlev, equal shots, but big defeat to a top team!

Round 17-18-19-20:

A round with surprising results, some more than others:
After a good showing in the Continental Cup could Herning continue winning and showing they are an elite Danish team?

Herning - Esbjerg 2-4 [Shots 28-25, Aaron Less 2G, Wade Bergman 3A for Esbjerg].
Answer was NO. Herning lost an important match and seemed destined for now to end somewhere around 5-8 in the regular season as there is now 11 points up to the 4th placed Esbjerg team.
Esbjerg secured their 4th spot placing with this win.

Rungsted - Odense 2-1 [Shots 39-21; Tobias Kisum 2G for Rungsted].
Rungsted managed to keep Odense's scoring down to 1 goal, which has only happened once before this season. Rungsted also showed massive total shot domination and should have won with a larger margin.
They seems finally to play according to their "paper strength". Odense lost vital points in trying to catch up with Rødovre and Esbjerg and has a rare offensive off day.

Frederikshavn - Aalborg 10-2 [Shots 41-20; Olle Liss 2G for Aalborg & Mathias Bau Hansen 2G 1A, Robin Bergman 2G 1A, Adam Miller 1G 3A, Steffen Klarskov Nielsen 1G 2A for Frederikshavn].
Aalborg had generally avoided blowouts, but here against a top team it got ugly and Aalborg even lead 2-0 before it started to go all wrong letting in 5 goals in 2 minutes in the 2nd period (auch)!

Rødovre - Gentofte 5-3 [Shots 26-25].
Rødovre keeps winning and have as usually I might say production spread all over the different lines.
Gentofte is 0-0-1-3 the last 4 games, so a really streaky team.

The huge upset of the day:
SønderjydskE - Herlev 2-3 [Shots 31-20; 2G Tuomas Muhonen for Herlev]
How did this happen? SønderjydskE must have taking this too lightly and Herlev having a hot goalie.
Herlev passes Aalborg in the league table and leaves the last spot, but there is now 11 points up to Herning that has played 3 matches less. Looks basically impossible unless this is the start of a whole new Herlev team effort!

Round 18-19-20-21:

So could SønderjydskE turn the tide and recover from their losing streak?

Rungsted - SønderjydskE 2-1 SO [Shots 26-56; Jonas Røndbjerg with SO winner].
No, Rungsted again shows they are on the right track and backup goalie Sebastian Feuk saved 55 out of 56 Shots!
SønderjydskE had 7 PP (Rungsted none) and they scored on only 1 of them right as the time went out, which probably explains their massive 56 shots on goal.

So what about the other top team?
Herning - Frederikshavn 2-1 SO [Shots 26-27, Jordan George 1G and SO winner for Herning].
Herning won a very tight game and Frederikshavn failed to gain more distance to SønderjydskE. They are 2 points ahead, but SønderjydskE has played one game less.

So what about the third placed team - could they win?
Aalborg - Rødovre 4-3 [Shots 34-26; Nicolai Meyer 3A for Aalborg].
Surprisingly also NO. Rødovre has won many matches where the total shots has been equal or to the opposing teams favour; but this time they lost.
Nicolai Meyer leads all league in assists now with 22.

So could the fourth places team Esbjerg win over Herlev, or would Herlev start a winning streak?
Herlev - Esbjerg 1-6 [Shots 26-30, Matthew Pistilli 1G 2A for Esbjerg]
Finally a favourite won! Esbjerg moves into the third spot and Herlev is last again. Shots were more or less equal, but bad goaltending got Herlev smashed as so many times this season.

Had Odense's attacked stalled or was last game a fluke?
Odense - Gentofte 4-1 [Shots 28-34, Ryan McDonough 2G 1A, Mike Daugulis 3A (!) for Odense].
It was a fluke. Odense's offense was back on track and Gentofte is in a real crisis at the moment (0-0-1-4 losing streak)

Nice words needs to be said about Phillip Bruggisser. He's great defensive and positional, a true leader, great on his skates though not speedy and distributes the puck well - mainly because he keeps it simple. The only red flag is - like for the most of the Rødovre team - the physical part of the game. But he's one of his teams best there to.

I confess that this friday against Gentofte he was good while the rest of the Rødovre team was sloppy so that may have helped me to the keyboard singing his praise.

So it sounds like you feel he is the natural candidate to take over eventually from Daniel Nielsen on the NT in being a super solid d-men, that almost never makes mistakes.

Anyways Rødovre continues having a remarkably broad production along their lines (still 1 players over 0,5 PPG), so hopefully they can keep it going all season, so an East-team have a shot as the semis!

Round 19-20-21.

Odense - Aalborg 9-2 [Shots 34-29, Ryan McDonough 2G, Joakim Nettelbladt 1G 2A, Simon Grønvaldt 4A, Andreas Pedersen 3A for Odense].
Even without Dale Mitchell on the roster Odense smashes Aalborg, who lets in 5 goals the last 10 minutes of the third period. At least an improvement to the 5 goals in around 2 minutes against Frederikshavn.
Nicolai Meyer uses the opportunity with 1G 1A to almost catch up to Dale Mitchell in the point production "race".
Simon Grønvaldt is now one of the few Danes over 1 PPG with 4G 11A in 14 games.

Herlev - Rungsted 4-1 [Shots 31-19, Alexander B. Jensen 3G, Victor Backman 1G 2A, Conny Strömberg 3A for Herlev].
The big surprise of the day. Herlev actually totally dominates Rungsted in shots and again leaves last place for Aalborg. I though Rungsted was on the right track....but no.

So two teams in a losing streak, who will end it?
SønderjydskE - Gentofte 3-1 [Shots 43-17 !].
SønderjydskE dominates massively and gets a win, but not by much.
Gentofte's crisis deepens.

Rødovre - Herning 1-2 SO [Shots 23-36, Tomas Sinisalo 1G and SO winner for Herning]
Herning started with Simon Nielsen as goalie, whom finally made a good showing.
Rødovre held their 1-0 lead until around 3 minutes before the end.

Thomas Spelling hitting magic numbers like Frans Nielsen did earlier this season.

Just noticed that in his career in the Danish league (regular season) he had played 200G with 100G 100A for precisely 1 PPG. How cool is that!
Tonights game brought him up to 201G in all and gave him no points.......

Wow, that's crazy.

He is just such a great player. Maybe even the best danish player in the league if you take the last 2-3 years in account.

Seems like Meyer and Spelling is dominating....they should get a contract in Allsvenskan next season...maybe with Pantern from Malmö?

I totally agree.
Their talent is "wasted" one more season in the Danish league.

1) Nicolai Meyer was promising when he played U20 in Sweden (Malmö) with 51P in 46 games in the Super Elite in 2011-12.
Then he has a great season in Frederikshavn 2013-14 with 42P in 40 games, but then all went wrong last year with "only" 19P in 34 games. So his move to Aalborg was absolutely great from a career point of view and his production has simply been insane when you think about he plays for the worst team in the league.
Aalborg has scored 55 goals in 21 games and Nicolai Meyer has 37 points!! He must be the favourite to be "Player of the Year".

2) Thomas Spelling has an "average year" so far for a man of his talent (he is NHL drafted after all), but to develop further I think Allsvenskan is a must.
He tried and failed in 2012-13 with only getting 7 matches in SHL and then loaned to Allsvenskan playing 4 games without points in either; but it must be time to try again!
Unless he wants to be a leading Danish league forward star for many years (as Jannik Karvinen and Kim Lykkeskov are).

Other Danes ready for Allsvenskan?
3) As Bank said Phillip Bruggisser is doing great for Rødovre. He played in both Allsvenskan and Division 1 last year and a return to Allsvenskan should be possible for him as well.

4) Also Mathias Bau Hansen seems ready from next year: With 15P in 10 games for Frederikshavn and if he goes to pick up some more defensive skill in Allsvenskan he could be a great future 4th liner for the Danish NT as Valdemar has pointed out. He played for Pantern in Division 1 in 2013-14.

Could players like George Sørensen, Simon Grønvaldt, Nicholas B. Jensen be added to the list? Or what are your thoughts about them? :)

And what about some of the young players? Someone who can do the same as, Matias Lassen?
- Anders Krogsgaard, Mads Larsen & Sonny Hertzberg?

As for George Sørensen he has until now been a reserve keeper. So I would think that getting tons of playing time in Frederikshavn will be good for his development (mental toughness) instead of starting off as a backup goalie in Allsvenskan. For instance Sebastian Dahm evolved into a really good keeper by getting lots of playing time for Rødovre and he chose Graz in EBEL in spite of other offers, but apparently weighted playing time as most important for keeping his NT spot.

As for Simon Grønvaldt and Nicholas B. Jensen it's very possible they should be added to the list as they both seem to have a positive development - not so clear cut though as Meyer and Spelling.

The young players would likely start as a loan in a division 1 club and then have to work up to Allsvenskan roster level (as Brugisser did both last year). You have to be a "d-man star" in Denmark first before I think Allsvenskan clubs come calling.
Otherwise you have to be a U20 player in Sweden getting some chances for Allsvenskan playing time (which Matias Lassen did so well he stays on the roster).

Round 20-23.

Esbjerg - Frederikshavn 4-3 OT [Shots 25-30].
Esbjerg have their eye on firmly securing their third spot and Frederikhavn fails to fully expand their lead over SønderjydskE.

Frederikshavn - Rødovre 6-3 [Shots 25-22, Tim Kunes 1G 2A for Frederikshavn].
Rødovre managed to score 0 goals on six power plays and handing Frederikshavn 2 short-handed goals in the process. Then it's hard to win hockey matches.
Frederikshavn secures their league lead as SønderjydskE lost (see below).
A battle between backup goalies. Christian Larsen with better end-result than Frederik Jakobsen.

Aalborg - SønderjydskE 4-2 [Shots 27-25, Nicolai Meyer 1G 2A for Aalborg].
Aalborg with a great game - moving past Herlev again in the battle to avoid last place.
SønderjydskE is really doing bad at the moment.
Could Nicolai Meyer move passed Dale Mitchell for the production "crown"?

Herning - Odense 2-3 SO [Shots 45-28]
No, Dale Mitchell gets 2A so he and Nicolai Meyer are now equal in the point race. Dale Mitchell missed a penalty in regular time.
Herning was able to hold down the Odense goal scoring machine again this season, but they really struggle to score themselves beside getting off far more shots.

Rungsted - Esbjerg 1-0 [Shots 30-28, Shutout for Sebastian Feuk. GW by Morten Green].
Another battle of backup goalies. Sebastian Feuk vs Nicolaj Henriksen turned out stellar! We had to wait until the 59th minute to get a goal. Feuk keeps his hold on the league leading in save-%.

Gentofte - Herlev 5-1 [Shots 32-33, Dominik Kadura 1G 2A, Roberts Jekimovs 1G 2A for Gentofte].
Gentofte finally gets over their big slump.
Herlev yet again loses a game with more or less equal shots. Goaltending really lacking for them this season.

Round 21-24

Esbjerg - Herning 3-4 SO [Shots 23-29, Jordan George 2G + shootout winner for Herning]
Herning is starting to win more games as their scoring is increasing, while keeping their good defense.
Esbjerg failed to gain more distance to Rødovre for the league third spot.

Rødovre - Gentofte 4-1 [Shots 32-33, Mathias Asperup 3A for Rødovre].
Rødovre keeps contact with Esbjerg.
Gentofte despite winning their former game is back to losing.

Head-to-head battle for third spot:
Esbjerg - Rødovre 3-1 [Shots 31-22].
Esbjerg won by scoring three goals in the third period, so a bitter defeat for Rødovre after leading most of the game.

SønderjydskE - Herning 1-2 [Shots 19-18].
Huge win for Herning and another good showing by Simon Nielsen and a game with very low number of shots.
SønderjydskE is not going well at the moment.

Rungsted - Gentofte 3-2 [Shots 35-35].
Rungsted with Sebastian Feuk in goal wins the local derby.
Gentofte's crisis continues.

Head-to-head battle of the bottom:
Herlev - Aalborg 5-1 [Shots 35-22, 2G Antti Hölli for Herlev].
Amazingly the two teams change position again. Herlev totally dominated this match and it's rare Nicolai Meyer leaves without a single point.

Round 23-25

Frederikshavn - SønderjydskE 3-0 [Shots 26-15, Colin Vock 2G for Frederikshavn]
Frederikshavn really gets a grip on the first spot in the league. George Sørensen with a shutout.
SønderjydskE is in a crisis and was really outplayed here.

Rødovre - Odense 2-3 [Shots 32-30, Sean Wiles 2G for Odense].
Rødovre is slipping (more and more losing these close matches, they won earlier in the season) and Odense is getting closer and closer to them in the battle for 4-5th spot.

Gentofte - Esbjerg 2-3 [Shots 21-31, 2G Francis Verreault-Paul for Gentofte].
Gentofte keeps losing and Esbjerg is now only 1p behind SønderjydskE for 2nd place.

Herning - Herlev 5-2 [Shots 28-21, Jerred Smithson 2G for Herning].
Herning has started climbing up the ladder turning around 0-2 to 5-2. They are now only 4p behind Rødovre and 3p behind Odense.
Will Herlev return to last place again after this defeat?

Rungsted - Aalborg 2-3 OT [Shots 33-30].
Yes, Aalborg made it passed Herlev in the table with a win over Rungsted.
[Both teams still have 11 points up to Gentofte, which looks impossible].
Rungsted is still very uneven in their performances. [They have lost their latest matches to Herlev and Aalborg, which should be wins for them].

Well there might be a difference in quality of opponents to consider :laugh:

Tonights match between Rødovre and Odense was a fun comparison of style between Brad Gratton and Jesper Duus. The north american north-south with an edge vs. the Swedish "Detroit"ish possession at all cost line of thought. I can why Duus with his material would like to limit risk on passes above 20 meters but as the season progresses I think the offense will be more and more dependent on Karvinen and mistakes. I'm afraid Rodovre will land where they were expected. 4-6 games in QF and out. But Astrup really had a bad night so perhaps he'll get back in gear and spark something.

Odense plays no-nonsense hockey. Big, fast and to the point. Wiles(I think... #15) and Mitchell have better first strides then the rest on the ice today. They do seem to have an issue with keep their calm. Mitchell picked a fight for no good reason in the second period at 2-2. Your best players should do that. Their goaltending is an issue to. Wow does he make bad decisions.

The name of the day is Nikolaj Krag. He's a big guys with what seems to be a solid head on his shoulders and a nice touch with puck. Still only a 3rd or 4th liner i the Danish League - but he looks a bit like a poor mans Mathias Bau when he entered the league.

Well there might be a difference in quality of opponents to consider :laugh:

Great analysis of style difference, Bank
Rødovre have troubles lately to keep up in the final part of the 3rd period.
Also Karvinen is in a little scoring crises.
So hopefully Nikolaj Krag continue his good development - how far is he from a top-6 you reckon? (or perhaps waiting to next year?).

The Odense "no-nonsense" hockey has been overwhelmingly efficient point production wise, and as the production shows it's basically all north american [Mitchell, Wiles, Armstrong, McDonough].
An issue with goal tending and lack of ability to keep calm might explain why their defense have been leaking many goals this season. If they fix their defensive problems, they will be a real contender as basically only Frederikshavn can keep up with their scoring. [101 goals for Odense in 23 games, 102 goals for Frederikshavn in 24 games, "only" 85 goals for Esbjerg in 3rd team scoring spot].

The clash of styles is a good observation. And it doesn't work in Rødovre's favour. Every time these two teams meet, Odense looks to be a level or two above Rødovre. And yet Rødovre is still ahead of Odense in the standings...

Also much agreed on Krag. It's not that he's a budding superstar or anything like that, but he plays a very solid game with some good hockey sense. There's a level of maturity to his game that is rarely seen in the Danish league from a player at that age. His points production is relatively low, but in a way that only makes it more impressive that he manages to stand out to both of us. :) Rødovre don't have standout top line players like other teams in the league - Karvinen being the only possible exception, but they are deeper at forward than most teams in the league. So I am not really concerned that Krag is on the 3rd line at the moment. And there's still plenty of potential for improved production going forward.

I can also see the comparison to Bau, but Bau is now listed at 6'7'' = 2 meters! It's unlikely that Krag will grow to those heights. :)

I will be very surprised and disappointed if he is not in the final selection for the WJC. So cool that TV2 Sport has picked up the rights to this tournament - can't wait!

Round 24-27

Odense - Herlev 2-4 [Shots 44-20, Lukas Lundvald Nielsen 2G for Herlev].
Amazingly Herlev left the last spot again to Aalborg and managed to win even though massively outshot by Odense.

So that makes this match very important. Could Gentofte put some distance to the 2 bottom teams or would their slump continue?
Gentofte - Aalborg 1-2 [Shots 35-24].
Huge win for Aalborg -> both Herlev and Aalborg are getting closer to Gentofte, so hope suddenly has appeared]. Gentofte desperately needs some points soon!

Then two teams that are struggling at the moment. SønderjydskE can't score much and Rødovre are losing tight matches...
SønderjydskE - Rødovre 1-0 [Shots 30-24].
SønderkydskE still can't score much and Rødovre lost a tight match, but at least SønderjydskE got some points again.
Joni Myllykoski with a shutout.

Bottom-dweller vs the league-leading team.
Herlev - Frederikshavn 6-2 [Shots 23-29, Conny Strömberg 3G 2A, Toumas Muhunen 1G 2A, Mikkel Ankjær Nielsen 4A for Herlev].
What happened there???? In the first period Herlev had 7 shots and scored 5 goals!
George Sørensen had a Save-% of 28,5% after the first period, but stayed on the whole match.
Herlev now only 5 points after Gentofte.

So could Odense's mighty offense bounce back after the failure of losing against Herlev in the last match?
Esbjerg - Odense 9-0 [Shots 34-25; Matthew Pistilli 3G, Jeppe Holmberg 3G, Brock Nixon 1G 2A for Esbjerg].
Whaaat?? Total massacre of Odense. Ok they have had defensive problems all season, but it is the first match this season they are not scoring!
Jeff Frazee gets a shutout.

Battle between backup goalies -> league best goalie Sebastian Feuk vs recently home-returned Simon Nielsen
Rungsted - Herning: 2-0 [Shots 24-27]
Sebastian Feuk with a shutout.
Stange: Rungsted wins over the "good" teams and loses to the "bad".
Herning lately looked like they have solved their scoring problems - well, until they ran into Feuk.
Rungsted takes 6th place and pushes Herning to 7th.
