is there someone who is up to date with new Czech prospects that are sticking out - defenders in particular?

So how good is Myšák? 3 GP in the ELH and 2 points. Only 16 years old.

Matous Mensik (2003) is one to watch. Stanislav Svozil, who had ridiculous numbers last year as a defenseman in the U16 league, was rather underwhelming though. Looked like left-handed Libor Zabransky. (Thoughts based on the Red Bull tournament that was played late in August.)

Top 5/10 prospect in his draft class possibly. With his skating skills he will draw comparisons to Necas, however Mysak is much more developed than Necas was at this age.

It's early and could very well be a part of the adjustment process, however I have to say the offensive production by our CHL prospects has been dissapointing. Pekar and overager Michnac are the only ones who consitently produce, guys like Barinka, Lang, Prikryl, Toman, Kvasnica, Pucek, Cajka... offense nowhere to be found. Zabransky doesn't seem to have gotten much better either. Hopefully some of them get going soon.

Definitely hadn’t looked great at all. Lang, prikryl, and toman are supposed to be good so I expect them to pick it up

Martin Lang starting to pick it up for Kamloops in the WHL.
Only 7 points in his first 17 games
After tonight’s 3 point game he has 11 in his last 10.
Quite good news. Hopefully he can keep this up.

Was matter of time before he gets going. Very talented player, just behind Teply and Pytlik in the 2001 age group.

Finally, Pytlik was moved to Chance Liga and is playing over 15 minutes, today he got one assist and 3 +/-, that's good news, definitely better than playing on the 4th with 5-8 minutes in Extraliga.

Would he consider moving to the OHL to play with SSM next year? It doesn't seem like he's getting the opportunity he deserves.

He should go the Sweden/Finland route next year.

Kubalik is tearing apart the Swiss league. He really improved his game over the years and will almost certainly be in NHL next season. Since the Bruins lack some depth on their wings, why don't they sign him? He will surely be a great addition!

There might be an issue with LA, as they seem to hold rights for him indefinitely. According to CapFriendly at least. I'm not really sure what the rules are though. Kubalik had signed a contract with a KHL team in 2017, however it was terminated shortly after ... and since there is no KHL-NHL transfer agreement, there might have been some problems there ..

Dominik Kubalik is an NHLer at this point. When you compare him to the "best" Czech free agents of recent history (Cervenka, Kovar), Kubalik has no red flags. Hopefully he is free to sign with any team.

Fingers crossed. Would be good to see someone succeed after Cervenka and Kovar. But honestly we really need some of our dmen to pan out. All that hope about 1998 born dmen seems to have been premature :(

So the regional youth championships will now be streamed live on hokejka.tv with commentary for most games.

Worth a watch if you're interested in prospects born in 2004 (U15).

The tournament starts on the 23rd of January.

If he were that talented he wouldn't just be playing u16 at 16yo. Also question who was the last good Czech prospect(s) to be developed by going through the Czech system? I.e not going to CHL, NCAA route, another European league or the AHL at a young age ( u20).

Could be a late-bloomer. And he's a dman so I thought it worth mentioning. But yeah, fair point.

Regarding your question, it's Hertl afaik.

Just read an interesting article on iDnes about our junior development issues: link

The major issue discussed was a prevalence to favour the biologically more well developed players over the more skilled ones, the reason being the over-emphasis on results as opposed to player development. These biologically well-developed players then struggle when the more slowly developing (and skilled) guys catch up with them.

There's also a nice graph on there showing how we keep up with the world up to the age of 14 in one particular exercise and then struggle after that.

The tournament starts on the 23rd of January.

Following the results of the regional youth Championships, the best 40 prospects will be chosen for a 4-day camp from the 11-14th April and divided up into two teams.

These two teams will be joined by a Swedish U-15 team from the Skåne region and the slovakian national U-15 team. The teams will all play games against each other.

The Czech players were chosen by a panel of 34 coaches and represent players born in 2004. The players chosen were:

Goaltenders: Bizoň Ondřej (Jihomoravský kraj), Špunar Jan (Olomoucký kraj), Vopravil Štěpán (Liberecký kraj), Žalčík Mario (Královéhradecký kraj)

Defensemen: Alscher Marek (Středočeský kraj), Brůna Patrik (Praha), Burian Adam (Zlínský kraj), Cibulka Tomáš (Jihočeský kraj), Čech Aleš (Praha), Hodinář Jan (Plzeňský kraj), Hrdlička Jakub (Praha), Hykl Ondřej (Jihomoravský kraj), Němec František (Jihomoravský kraj), Prčík Matěj (Jihomoravský kraj), Puchala Denis (Moravskoslezský kraj), Tůma Tadeáš (Liberecký kraj)

Forwards: Bareš Adam (Středočeský kraj), Becher Ondřej (Moravskoslezský kraj), Formánek František (Pardubický kraj), Gardoň Matěj (Středočeský kraj), Hlávka Tadeáš (Olomoucký kraj), Hrabík Ondřej (Středočeský kraj), Hujer Jakub (Liberecký kraj), Jungwirth Jonáš (Vysočina), Juříček Filip (Moravskoslezský kraj), Kulich Jiří (Ústecký kraj), Malínek Vojtěch (Praha), Němec Richard (Praha), Petrásek Filip (Jihočeský kraj), Pigl Martin (Vysočina), Polák Vojtěch (Liberecký kraj), Přibyl Matěj (Moravskoslezský kraj), Ramert Jan (Zlínský kraj), Rymon Dominik (Karlovarský kraj), Slavíček Šimon (Praha), Šapovaliv Matyáš (Středočeský kraj), Šiler Jakub (Plzeňský kraj), Šmajda Samuel (Karlovarský kraj), Trögner Matěj (Olomoucký kraj), Trunda Tomáš (Liberecký kraj)

Some of these guys will likely end up mentioned as future prospects, so I thought it would be worth getting those names out there now.
