I believe this to a certain extent, but what in Hades did they do in Philly to get Leighton to play lights out? HJs between periods?

They put a defenseman in front of him who was better than any defenseman who has ever played for the Carolina Hurricanes.

They also tended to score more than 2 goals/game. His stat line for those playoffs is solid but includes some crazy swings- he had a stretch of 3 shutouts in 5 games and then in the finals got lit up like a Christmas tree. I didn't dig that deeply into those numbers but if memory serves that philly team didn't need him to be great, just solid. When he stopped giving them solid in the finals they cracked even though they were still scoring a lot; philly only scored less than 3 goals in game 2 of the finals. The scores of those games were 5-6, 1-2, 4-3, 5-3, 4-7, 3-4. The high scoring and chris pronger deciding to turn into a wwf heel with the whole puck in the trash can thing made those games so fun to watch, I don't think a finals has topped it since. PK and the listerine thing came close though
