Bah! you can make statistics say whatever you want. :sarcasm: :p:

Pittsburg is more of a hockey city that Washington will ever be.
Is that why Washington usually has better attendance than Pittsburgh?

When Crosby gets into his low crouch however and collides with someone, he can knock any player in the league on their ***, including 260 pound Hal Gill.

And in his spare time he walks on water, cures the sick and feeds the poor...

You're gonna make deductions based on 1 or 2 hits? It would be interesting, line up Ovy and Sid at the opposite red lines, have them charge to center ice for an open ice hit, 100 times. How many of those times do you think Ovy would be left standing? I say 12. Because after 15 hits you'd have to scrape Crosby off the ice, bit by bit.

What are you talking about? Washington attendence usually sucks, even when they have a better record than Pittsburgh. Take this year for example, you have Ovechkin, a better record than the Pens and yet Washington is last in the league in attendence. Pittsburgh is up 35%, biggest jump in hockey. Great support there. In fact Washington's support is so wonderful that Leonis a couple of years during Washington and Pittsburgh Playoff series actually instructed his operators NOT to take phone calls from the Pittsburgh area code because half the arena would be filled with Pens fans. Which is the case anytime these two teams play in Washington - but not in Pittsburgh.

So please get the facts in order before stones are thrown. You are likely to hit your own windows.

Crosby despite how young he is has incredible lower body strength . . . hell, let's just say it as it is, a huge ***. Large legs too. Jagr was built the same. What is scary is that he is not completely grown. Mike Webster, the Hall of Fame center for the Steelers, was drafted very low because he was 'too short'. When asked about that he said 'I seem a whole lot taller when they are knocked on their ***.' Similar to Webster that added height of Ovechkins makes little difference here. Crosby takes no back seat to Ovechkin in hits, and will do so even less once he grows a little more.

Actually, Washington is not last in the league in attendance, so take your own advice about stone throwing and such.

Coming off a one-season lockout in which the league failed to play a single game, the Capitals have the fourth-worst record in the NHL and rank last in the league in attendance

how do you know? maybe he won't grow up as a player in this two years?

And maybe Ovechkin's car will explode en route to a game and I'll win the lottery...

crystall ball, oracle's advise, something else ?

Why not?

The entire argument to pick Ovy over Sid for so long has been the assumption that he would score more with Crosby's linemates?

It's not based on fact at all, so why should arguments favoring Sid need a factual base?

What does that prove?

Ovechkin is bigger.

Have a passing contest 50 times and Crosby wins all 50... So what?

I think both young guns are very very good. I think really it just depends on the type of player one prefers. Its hard to completely remove bias (as I'm a caps fan) but I have always liked NHLers who could score and hit and plays with such exuberence. But if I was a pens fans I would be happy with Crosby as I have been impressed with his hockeysense/passing which I have no problem in saying it is better than AO's. Cracks me up all the battles by various posters on who is better...just pick your favorite ice cream and be done wit hit, lol. :yo:

Are you think that Ovechkin would score less in this case ?

Not sure what you are getting at...but Pit, as with most NHL cities in the states, do well at the gates when the team is winning....and not so well when they are not. Pit had arguably the best player ever and at another time arguably the best player in the world....they were the best team in the league for at least 3 seasons.....I would expect that sort of success and roster would indeed draw fans out.....when they are a losing team (pre-66 and post-68) the attendance drops accordingly

I was not getting at anything, I was responding to this.

PS: I still do not get the wearing of the injured Mario avatar. Honestly I thought some here childish enough for that sort of thing, but thought better of you. That is not an attack but a compliment actually. What if I went around wearing one of these. Wouldn't it seem a bit obsessive regarding someone not on my team?

Pittsburgh might have better attendance but they would probably end up losing more money anyway.

What does an avatar with the topic at hand? Really, if you are going to keep threatening to put up an avatar of Ovechkin laying on the ice then by all means do it and get it over with and quit obssessing over it. Big deal. Quit wasting bandwidth.

I think that it's impossible to actually know that.

What I tihnk doesn't matter since there's no way to actually find out.

I see once again you aren't letting the real facts get in the way of your opinion.

First, the Pens do not have a better attendance history than the Caps...See REAL facts below.

Second, The Caps are not last, the Islanders are.
Link

As for Pens fans filling MCI Center, Leonsis did that one year, for one series in the playoffs, with his own supply of tickets. He did it more to make sure Caps' fans could get tickets than to keep Pens fans out, and he had zero control over the main MCI ticket outlet which was/is Ticketmaster. It did not affect regular season attendance figures. It also does not explain the fact that before this season, the Caps outdrew the Pens 4 out of the last 6 years, despite playing Pittsburgh in DC only 2 times a year.

The real facts are shown below. Washington has outdrawn the Pens 20 of the 31 years they have both been in the NHL. Take away the Caps' first 2 seasons when hockey was brand new in DC and it's 20 out of 29. At times, the Pen's attendance has been downright pitiful. They've averaged less than 10,000 7 times in their history. How about the 4 seasons the Pens couldn't even average 7500 a game!

That's some hockey town ya got there. Is that why there seems to be a "Save the Pens" campaign every other year.
