I think that's it for his NHL career. He's a guy that needs to play a physical styled game, and I don't think his body is cut out for it. He'll be 30 this year, not a great age to be recovering from a chronic back problem.

That said, he's made over 10 million dollars from 205 NHL / 169 AHL games in his career, so not too shabby to retire on. He'll be just fine. If he were to retire at the end of this season, he'd have earned an average of $33,689 per game.

No reason to retire after this season if he is unable to play. He is still under contract for another year, so he would likely go on LTIR.

Man, that really sucks.
Feel bad for the guy, and I am familiar with badly straining my back...which is not the same pain level.
Hope he gets better and is able to continue.

He played a serviceable role for us when he was healthy.
I suspect the emergence of Clitnone coincided with the original back injury.
