With the core we have and Price in net, we don't really have an option to do a Pens, Blackhawks, or Leafs rebuild. I want our age 25 and under core to keep improving and I have no problem with that group being lead by Price/Weber. They are not old tomorrow. Patch and Pleky need to go this year though IMO. Galchenyuk needs to be showcased and we can trade him for multiple pieces who are very close to NHL ready or already in the NHL. Teams are most definitely interested in Galchenyuk. I prefer to keep him but I don't think he re-signs so it's best to recoup younger assets for him.

Drouin is age 22. Just stop it! Stop pretending that he is old already. It was a solid trade for the Habs. Sergachev will be very good and so will Drouin if we can add the pieces we need around him through prospects and free agency or trades. This teams needs more offense and speed and Drouin brings that for us. It was a good trade for both teams but you are the one who is talking about who won or lost the trade already

Yes, I want us to tank this year as this is the card we were dealt. No sense chasing after the straight or flush at this stage as we are competing against teams with a full house once the playoffs come. We need to stay patient and capitalize on circumstance with the core we have.
Galchenyuk is 23...

Yes, soon to be 24. If you insisting he should be part of our young core who grows together I agree. However, Like I said, I would trade him because I don't see him re-signing with us and I hate that 3 year deal.
only a year difference with Drouin, who's soon to be 23...

Yes it is, unless you dig into my posting history and discover that I’ve been a Galchenyuk backer for years.

I want him traded for his own sake more than anything. The politics in Montreal will ensure we’ll never see the best of him.

Knowing what we know today.... Where does Galchenyuk get taken? Top 5 or top 10?

When does scherbak return ?

Haven't heard any news lately. I suspect he will start skating in a week or two and return to the AHL for a few games in the new year. I doubt we put him straight onto our Habs roster and we would want him to gain his confidence back again.

There isn’t a chance a chance in **** he gets taken over Paryko, Lindholm, Trouba, Reilly knowing what we know now.

What is it do we know actually?

That he is a great talent , already scored 30 in one season.

I wish we would have let him play and learn center form the get go though

I still take him before the Defensemen you named

He has hit 30 goals, but there are a bunch of problems with his game. Those defenceman go ahead of him every time and it’s not even close. Reilly or Lindholm next to a Shea Weber would fill a huge need for us and be much more important then a guy whose been labelled a winger here. You also have a guy like Parayko who id drop Weber for in a second. You are more then entitled to feel the way you do. I personally would make a strong argument for a few others. I have Galchenyuk hovering in and around 10th overall that year. 8 of the top 10 picks in that draft were defenders so I’m not surprised we’ve seen so many good defenders come out of it.

Nah.. It was the right move at the time. Players had tuned him out especially Price.

I feel Bergevin could've had the same fate this season had they lost 9 or 10 games in a row.

Who's in and who's out when our forwards are healthy? Where do we put Byron, DLR, Scherbak, or even McCarron if he plays better and pushes for a spot? Good problems to have but I'm curious to see how this plays out.

Where do Byron, DLR, Scherbak, McCarron fit?
Galchenyuk / Drouin / Lehkonen
Patch / Danault / Shaw
Hudon / Pleky / Gallagher
Deslauriers / Froese / Carr

Lets say we trade Patch and Pleky for futures ... Where do you put Scherbak and McCarron?
Galchenyuk / Drouin / Lehkonen
Hudon / Danault / Gallagher
Byron / DLR / Shaw
Deslauriers / Froese / Carr

We certainly don't have top end talent but we have solid depth. Decisions are going to have to be made here with our current roster and projected roster for next year.
