This thread is dedicated to female CIS level or university hockey in Canada leading to the National Team.

Great to see this thread up and running!
I had the opportunity to photograph the Women's CIS National Hockey Tournament this past season, women's hockey is strong in this country.

In an attempt to revitalize this thread, here's a brief rundown of the situation with Carleton's women's team:

The team was god-awful last season, went 1-4 in the preseason, and then gave fans a little ray of hope on Oct. 18th, when they beat U of Ottawa 4-2 on home ice in the regular season opener. Since then, the team has been outscored 18-2 in three losses.

1-3, and a big weekend at home with games against Concordia (Sat.) and McGill (Sun.). Two losses this weekend and I think it's safe to write off the 14-15 season for Ravens women's hockey.

As hot as the Waterloo men's team is right now, the women are just as dominant. They've won 5 straight games, three over CIS-ranked opponents (Guelph, Queen's, WLU), and rookie G Stephanie Sluys has allowed only one goal in that 5-game stretch (with a 209-minute shutout streak in there for good measure).

Her numbers are outrageous - Her 1.00 GAA, .959 Sv% and 5 shutouts are all tops in the OUA.

Welp, Carleton's WHKY season came to an end today with a tough 2-1 loss against the playoff-bound U of O Gee-Gees.

Carleton finished the season 3-17, but the future is bright for the program. Their best goalie (Katelyn Steele), best defenceman (Robyn Belland), and one of their best forward (Sidney Weiss) are all freshman.

Hopefully head coach Pierre Alain can pick up 6+ wins next season!

Sluys named OUA rookie of the year. The future also looks bright for Queens and Nipissing.

Well, that's a wrap for the CIS women's hockey season.

Western with a surprising 5-0 win over McGill in the final (goaltending a major factor, both in Western's win and McGill's loss).

Credit to the 'Stangs, taking down the consensus top two teams in Canada in Montreal and McGill in succession to claim the University Cup.

The Western women and Chris Higgins are a great story...they go from one of the worse to the champions.

Higgins seems to be a fun guy with a great sense of humour...the Western men coaching could learn from that, ignorance and arrogance is not the right way.

St. FX Women certainly didn't get any breaks from the officials in their last 2 games against McGill and Montreal and should be very proud of their performance at Nationals.
