unless you live in this country you do not will not and can not understand how asinine and moronic the media here is and how much it loves to [MOD] pander to the witless masses

i would bet my truck (and it is a nice one) that 98% of the qc talk is not only factually untrue but also made up on purpose so rogers can get clicks and listeners and viewers because the xenophobic hockey 'puritans' who vehemently believe hockey should not exist south of philly and who think teams in raleigh, nashville, anaheim, etc are the sole reason why we do not have thriving clubs in saskatoon and moose jaw need something to [MOD]

Do you Raptor bro?

If so show me the Raptor claw.

When Gravely says "...and I have been told that those groups are committed to investing in the Hurricanes." the source is probably Jim Goodmon, owner of WRAL and one of the minor investors in the Canes.

Yeah, it's pretty clear that Goodmon is sending signals to the community through Gravley.

One strong indicator... in February 2016, Gravley did a series of articles around the 10th anniversary of the Canes' Cup run. That was February 2016, mind you, 19 months ago.

Here are all of the articles that Gravley has written about the team during that 19 month timeframe:

7/13/17 - Hurricanes close to sale; team would stay in Raleigh

7/17/17 - Williams returns to PNC

9/5/17 - Canes begin camp under ownership uncertainty

So a guy who basically never writes about the Canes just happens to be the one writing the articles which give hints of the inside of the negotiating process.

The followup question: what does Goodmon gain by leaking this information to the public?

Does he look better when the deal goes through and he is "forced" to take a bigger chunk of the team that he was already planning to buy.

Or is this damage control for his name when the deal falls through.

Or is he throwing a bone to a good company reporter.

Also:

...Goodmon and Greenberg have a long-standing relationship that includes Greenberg’s purchase of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in 2006 and Greenberg sitting on the board of directors of the Carolina League, the Pelicans’ league that was also home to the Capitol-owned Durham Bulls before their move to AAA in 1997.

Source

So agreed this could be a backfire to Karmanos comments that could be spooking additional investors.

I was wondering why Gravley is suddenly talking about the Canes, because I couldn't think of a single other time. Makes sense that he's the mouthpiece for Goodmon.

I mean to be fair the sale of the Hurricanes is kind of a big ****ing deal which doesn't hurt

It doesn't, and the actual sale would be in his wheelhouse like the Cup anniversary coverage. But according to the long established pattern of assignments, Adam Gold should be writing these check-in articles. The change to a higher profile writer really suggests that someone upstairs is pushing the coverage.

Greenberg congratulated the Bulls on their championship. Goodmon owns the Bulls. Coincidence, I think not. I believe Greenburg was earning his investor brownie points with Goodmon by congratulating his team on their victory.
