Checkers beat Cleveland (Columbus affiliate) 3-2 in the shootout.

  • Ned gets a 42-save win.
  • Ulf calls it "his best game in our uniform".
  • Zykov (leading goal-scorer) gets the shootout winner in his first-ever attempt.
  • Carrick returned from injury after being out for 18 games (Nov 27).
  • Anton Forsberg once again takes the L.
  • Checkers are 9-4-0 at home, fewest home games played in the AHL.

Checkers overcame a 3-0 deficit today to win 5-3. They got 2 goals in about 9 seconds at the end of the second, tied it in the last half of the 3rd, took the lead with < 3 min, and got an empty netter with .1 seconds left. PDG and Nasalspray on the board!

And I thought the Canes home-away ratio was rough before this home stand, ouch.

Checkers come back from 3 goal deficit to win 5-3, sweeping Cleveland over the weekend.

Wallmark pots two, Zykov with 2 assists, and Tochinsky, who's been heating up had a goal and an assist. Neds stops 22 of 25.

These guys might be figuring a thing or two out.

Carrick's first game back since November.

Checkers won in a shootout tonight 5-4. Ned appears to have crapped the bed in a high scoring first period, and Altshuller came in and only let in one goal the rest of the night. Poturalski with a three point night. Having a pretty solid year it would appear.

2 goals on his first 2 shots, got pulled after the 3rd at the end of the first period. I fear that the organization may have permanently broken him by throwing him to the wolves when he clearly should have started in the ECHL...many great goalies have taken that route (e.x. Dubnyk)

In tonight's game against the Iowa Wild, Connor Brickley, riding his hot scoring streak slots in on the 1st line. Trevor Carrick is playing on the top pair with Jake Chelios and Haydn Fleury moves down to the bottom pair. Wonder what can be read into that last move....?

Probably nothing more than leaning on veterans in a very important game. Seems like a crutch most coaches are guilty of at some time or another (not that it's always wrong either). I feel confident in the NHL future of Fleury quite easily over every one of the guys you mentioned.
