Why

(If this means Parra is gone, I don’t mind this.)

I fully expected Baltimore to commit around $10M and everyday at bats to him, only to have it end horribly.

lol how many outfielders do the Rockies want? It seems a bit silly to have Desmond, Blackmon, CarGo and Parra all blocking once highly regarded prospects in Dahl and Tapia.

Wasn’t Desmond playing 1B?

I think that was the plan when they signed him (which I still don't get since they gave up a high pick to get him). They have McMahon waiting, though. Obviously, he's blocked at third by Arenado, but he could play first if Desmond struggles.

I don't get them re-signing CarGo, though. Like NJDevs said, they have so many outfielders.

Tapia yes. Dahl is too injury prone. If Dahl stays healthy and tears up AAA they'll make room for him.

They have 1 good outfielder. Dahl missed all of last season, Tapia struggled in the majors, and the other 2 are terrible overpaid players that won't block anyone.
