A large chunk of the reason the Caps powerplay was so effective the past few years was the speed in which they could go from the blue line to fully set-up. Currently they can't even gain the zone with control, let alone get set up.
Wilson would have to find some skill somewhere to do that.Wilson to score next. Or Orpik.
In order to do that, 19/92 have to draw the Isles PK over to the right side, otherwise 8 will never be open.
Trying to preserve our shooting percentageOf course. They don't have a single SOG this period.
He's open a lot. Carlson just doesn't pass to him. I want Mike Green back in times like these.
Not really, the Isles PK is high and spread out, ready to cut that pass over to Ovechkin. In instances like this, they need to get it to Oshie.
I'm not talking about this game specifically. He needs to make that pass to 8 but he just passes it back to 19/92 till they turn the puck over because they're trying way too hard.
Why not try someone else? Its not like they have anything to lose.
That would require adjustments. We have had trouble all year with teams that pinch their defenseman in our zone in order to take away the breakout along the boards. It seems like something we should be able to adjust...or maybe our D just panics too much with the puck.
