Hugo is an odd one in that he played for no less than 6 different teams in 3 different countries last season alone in Finland, Czech Republic and then ending in Canada (OHL).
It was wild, every month Allan Walsh would tweet something where he was looking like a man among boys in a completely different league
what has hugo has shown to better than somebody like vanecek?
You always take the 6’4” defenseman over the goalie and Has is 5 years younger

No way. Hugo Has is close to the Fehervary/Alexeyev prospect tier.
Close as in...also in a tier. He's more in the 15 range for me. Yeah, he's young and there's some raw upside but he's a real project and one without a present obvious calling card strength beyond his frame. There's some skill there but I'm not sure it's enough to be distinguishing. Nardella is the one somewhat closer to MF/AA level but still more of a depth/organizational sort barring another jump. Barring some sort of massive jump from Has he's more of a three to four year proposition at best (and one very likely better off playing in Europe).

Sure, it's a relatively weak system so maybe that's a bit harsh but at this stage Has still looks more like a third pair D than anything closer to distinguishing quality. It can't be ruled out that he puts it all together as he fills out but I don't know that's all that will need development.

Tobias Geisser is 6'4"
Jaynen Rissling is 6'4"
Patrick Koudys is 6'3"
Eric Mestery is 6'5"
Sasha Pokulok is 6'5"
Joe Finley is 6'7"

And that's just Caps draft picks.

Size is nice, but size alone doesn't make you a top prospect.

I think Hugo Has to me has appeared successful because he has a decent hockey IQ and instincts with height-based reach that is uncommon in the leagues he's played in. But I'm not sure his overall skill level will be enough to keep him in a 'good' tier when the height advantage is reduced in the NHL. He's young enough that continued skill development could still happen, though. He's a hard guy to call for me.

Most of the public video on him are specifically highlights, which are obviously biased towards his success, and not overall game play.

Geissner got named to the Swiss junior team while injured largely because of his size, but also none of those guys put up highlights like Has the year after they were drafted
