I imagine this was done on purpose by Lind and his agent.

Because Gadjovich signed in 2017 his contract will be slide eligible next year even in the AHL.

By waiting until 2018 to sign his ELC, Lind's contract will not slide next season.

Which makes it very questionable why he was signed this season.

I am stunned by this. I thought for sure he would sign for the 2018-19 season. Very strange decision.

Do you think he has been told he will get a chance to play in the AHL or a few games on the canucks?

The Canucks want him in the AHL as soon as possible.

Ed Willes: Canucks talk of better, faster days, but process is suspect
Now, the most interesting news Benning offered up on Monday concerned the immediate future of the Canucks’ drafted players. He said the plan was to sign those players and send them to Utica for the AHL playoffs, meaning the Comets could have Adam Gaudette, Jonathan Dahlen, Kole Lind, Jonah Gadjovich and Olli Juolevi in their lineup in the coming weeks.

Makes sense that they'd do this days after the deadline and the subsequent fallout lol. Wonder if they'll sign DiPietro too.

His contract doesn't kick in until next season according to Biech.

Smart for the Canucks to get the contract to start in next year.

Lind can still go to Utica on a ATO if the Rockets are eliminated.

Interested to see how he handles the AHL next year. Cautiously optimistic.

I'm still not convinced that Lind will develop into an NHL player, but signing him was a no brainer: he was a high second round pick who is developing.
