Even if a deal gets done, Bettman didn't sound like NHL players would play in the 2006 Winter Olympics.

Coming off a lockout, Bettman said, "I'm not sure how sensible it would be to take a break. ... In light of what we've been through and what we're still going through, focusing on the Olympics in Italy isn't one of our priorities right now."

Bettman also said that if there's no agreement, the 2005 draft would be postponed.
