Hey guys, just wondering who you think the canes should pick in the first round of this upcoming draft. We should draft somewhere between 10-15. Thanks in advance for your help in advance!

IMO, the Canes could use a dynamic all-around defenseman with a flair for the dramatic.

They should have drafted that Jack Johnson guy, a couple of drafts ago. I hear he's pretty good.

Not asking a 1st round pick at the time of the trade was plain stupid...they would have had a top 5 pick for this year...

Who's to say they didn't and LA didn't bite? Rutherford isn't an idiot. This is the guy who effectively turned Igor Knyazev into Justin Williams, Belanger into Walker, and traded up for Ladd for free. He got the best possible deal.

That said, this probably isn't the best place for this topic. Stroll over to the Canes board and it's being discussed, somewhat, in the Jack Johnson topic.

Carolina might as well draft Petrecki.x

Not true...the best possible deal in that case would have been to just keep Johnson!

We're assuming that wasn't an option for whatever reason.
