I was one of the people that thought Canada could send three teams and take three of the top four spots. They've got plenty of goaltending depth but if they spread out their forwards and defensemen over the three teams, they'd very well could compete. The tough thing is to find three coaches that can kick each team in the butt. Without Gretzky's motivation at Salt Lake, they probably don't win the gold over Team USA.

Just like Jiri Dopita. :D

Just like Marek Zidlicky, Brian Rafalski, Kimmo Timonen....

And I am just listing guys coming from ONE european team, each of these players entered the NHL at older age after playing years in finnish league. Would you say that these guys are not good players in NHL level?

Records mean squat when you actually win the gold medal. I think overall 3 Canadain teams could compete but not all medal. Depth wise Canda is deeper then any nation at the goaltender position and a little deeper overall then most at the forward position. As far as defense goes I think Cnada is amongst the leaders but depth overall at this position is not thier strong point.

Keep in mind If the Czech Rep. didn't split they could ice 2 teams too.

You are right. Right now Canada is deeper in every position, except maybe defence. Canada will see some tough competition from Finland on the goaltending depth in few years. And Russia might challenge Canada on the forwards.

Some players adapt well, some don't.

No they were lucky that they ended up with a coach that gave them a real chance to prove their value. How many games did Hasek sit on the bench in Chicago?

what good is having three teams when your A team goes just 4-3-1 against other countries' A teams, including a 2-3-1 record against European teams ... ?

Record from the past 2 Olympics.

Who is the Defending Champion! Thats Right CANADA!!! Nice Try buddy, its time for Canada to dominate for 50 years. Doesn't sound like a long enough reign, but I will stick to it!

Name Team Canada 2

2 rules, obviously they couldn't of been named to Team Canada, and no Todd Bertuzzi, odds are he would of made Team Canada, so since he isn't on that team, don't name him to this one.

Kariya - Lecavalier - Nash
Shanahan - Primeau - Tanguay
Peca - Madden - Walz
Murray - Damphousse - Carter

Aucoin - McCabe
Stuart - Souray
Bouwmeester - Hannan

Theodore
Giguere

(6 Extras: G - Raycroft, D - Sydor, D - Phillips, F - Morrison, F - Nieuwendyk, F - Walker)

Bob McKenzie's "Team B" (I realize he broke your bertuzzi rule, but I didn't want to start a new thread):

Tanguay/Lecavalier/Bertuzzi
Nash/Morrison/Kariya
Niedermayer/Priomeau/Moreau
Stillman/Madden/Murray
Roberts/Nieuwendyk/Damphousse

Stevens/Bouwmeester
Souray/Aucoin
Hannan/Stuart
McCabe/Jackman

Joseph/Theodore/Turco

IMO that team could compete for a medal.

crap, cant copy/paste. All I can say is although canada could ice a very good 2nd team, tsn named a crappy one. They basically put the world championship team on. I mean briere, Niedermayer, Staois and Hannan? Where's Lindros, Ribeiro, primeau, Rathje, and Morris?

I don't know about Denis being better than Raycroft. Raycroft played extermely well this year in his rookie season. He was the main reason that Boston won so many games, as he was the deciding factor.

Hannan > Rathje in my opinion. Briere is also very good. He is better offensively than Primeau, but isn't as good defensively.

I'd take Preems over Briere anyday, but naming Niedermayer and Staios was simply a sad attempt at humor.

That was very dumb. I would put Cujo and Turco over Raycroft but they are definitely comparable. As for Denis, you're right they aren't comparable, Raycroft is that much better.

I highlighted Anson Carter because with his play this season, I highly doubt he would've made the 4th or 5th team let alone the 2nd.
