If you have a player that is 24 and he files for arbitration, gets awarded whatever dollar amount for one year, and after the year is up, does the team retain his rights because he is only 25 or is he an unrestricted free agent?

He would still be restricted until he hit 27 or had 7 accrued seasons - whichever came first ... so unless he has 7 accrued seasons at age 25, the team would still retain his rights.
