Who knows if he will do it to start off a season, but it would be more likely in any consecutive 50 game set where he gets going on a long hot streak. Anyone know his current highest 50 game total so far?

Well, it wouldn't be easy, but if anyone can do it, I would think it would be him. The reasons being; he's still a teenager, he's still growing and getting stronger & he's still learning the NHL game.

He is already an incredible talent, but the sky's the limit because he is just filled with potential. I really don't think you can put a limit on what he is capable of. Just think of the jumps in improvements even in the past month... the skating, the hustling back check, the board battles, passing, drawing the opponent out of position, lots of big improvements. So just imagine when he puts all of that together, how many goals he can score or contribute to.

He's a smart, down to earth, driven kid with all the tools in the world. His limit is really going to depend on him.

60 goals in an entire season is a possibility with his shot.....but, when Gretzky scored 50 in 39, it was a wide open offensive league, a decade where the top scorers broke 70 in a season. Goalie equipment was smaller, and goalie coaching in its infancy.
In the last decade 60 has been reached once, but not beaten, and 50 has been the benchmark. 70-100 goals in a season is crazy talk, even if talent gets watered down with another expansion.

The official 50 in 50 for the NHL is 50 goals in your teams first 50 games. Guys like Cam Neely have unofficially done it in their personal 50 games. When your taking 50 goals in any 50 game span that's opening up a whole other can of worms.

No one has done it in over 25 years, I don't see Laine doing it. If he does it in this era he would be considered amongst the greatest, or even the greatest goal scorers in the history of the NHL.
