Fine with either Draisaitl or Bennett. Bennett a little more because I have a stronger feeling Edmonton picks Leon.

I picked Leon on the basis that the other three are gone. The poll needed to be more specific, but I guess everyone has their own taking from it.

the poll is who do you think we will draft, not who you want. Some people have Reinhart falling, some have a firm top 3 some have us going outside the box, I think the draft will go Ekblad, Reinhart, Draisaitl, Bennett to us

I'm still new on here, will I be able to vote once I've been an HF member for 45, 90 days?

Like I said, some people will have their own take on it.

Since you were talking about 2015, I really don't think we'll be drafting top 5 next year. Just a hunch I have, but I think we'll miss out on all those high-end guys. Unless Gio gets injured, then we're ****ed.

But I always thought it'd be awesome to get both Ekblad and Hanifin. I know it's unlikely, and we need forwards, but that would be such a devastating duo. If any team manages to get both of them (Edmonton?), it would be game over.

we were in a lot of close games, and for the most part we won a lot of those. if the bounces don't go our way, if cammy isnt here to light the lamp at the end of the year. if young guys coming up to fill vets spots struggle we could be looking at a top 3 pick. i mean even though for the most part we had a solid rebuilding year we still finished 4th last. i don't see us getting better next year unless ramo is the real deal and we have some good team defence. edmonton and florida have to get better as well, dont they?

This is a lot of maybe's, but IMO the following players will take forward steps in their development:

Ramo, Backlund, Brodie, Monahan, Colborne.

All of these guys except Brodie were better in the 2nd half than the 1st, and seemed to find their games later in the season. I think they'll be a lot more confident coming into next season.

And we wouldn't have been as bad this year if it weren't for Gio's injury, and early goaltending struggles.

It's true that EDM and FLA are getting better too, but maybe not enough to leapfrog Calgary. Then you have teams like VAN and CAR potentially falling below us.

I guess Calgary could **** the bed next year, but I just have a feeling that we won't. We'd all love one of those top players but I just get the gut feeling that it's not gonna happen.

I believe's Hanfin better than Ekblad. Imagine if we drafted Travis Konecy and have him with Gaudreau.

Hanifin's incredible. I think he's better than Jones too. He could be better than any D-man drafted high in the past several years. I saw him play at the U17 and my jaw was on the floor. He's like a hybrid of Jones and Pietrangelo, with his physical tools and mental poise. He's got an immediate wow factor when you see him. Personally I can't see Eichel being clearly above him; there's just no way. Those guys are 2A and 2B in that draft IMO.

Having more centers would be great to have; but it kinda worries me because I'm such a big fan of Backlund. If we draft Draisaitl this year, and Barzal next year (who I like a bit better than Konency), there's gonna be no room for Backlund, Jankowski, Granlund, Arnold... there's gonna be no chance for them in Calgary, unless they play wing, but they're all such natural centers. It just kinda sucks because you grow attached to them only to see them get potentially squeezed out in the matter of two drafts. Though we would have some amazing C depth if that was the case; maybe even best in the league.

I like Barzal better as well but I just meant Johnny and Konecy are both like little Patty Kane's. We should probably draft a defenseman like Kylington or Werenski

No way Edmonton passes on Ekblad
I disagree. First it's said that the Oilers want Draisaitl badly.

But even without those rumors, they need a big, strong 2 way centre as much as they need a defenseman, maybe even worse. Last year MacTavish made it well known he wanted a centreman instead he ended up with Nurse because all the top centremen had already been taken. Why would their needs be any different this season?

I'm sure the BPA rule still applies for Edmonton if Ekblad falls to #3. Ekblad would be the BPA in that case.
