There is no Eliteprospects page for him yet.

Birthdate: February 4, 2003

Scoring:

2015-2016:

D1(u14) A: 33+27=60 in 10 games played
C2(u15) AA: 22+36=58 in 24 games played

2016-2017:

C2 AAA lower Q: 29+46=75 in 16 games played
C2 AAA lower: 26+24=50 in 9 games played
B(u18) Alueliiga: 4+12=16 in 7 games played

A is lowest, AA second and AAA highest level for the age group. Also, Alueliiga is the 4th highest level for the age group.

What makes evaluating this prospect's scoring difficult is that he's not exactly been able to play at the highest level due to LJK being pretty terrible. Still, C2 AAA lower is not -so- far below C2 AAA upper that it's completely irrelevant, at least when his scoring is that good. When he scored 50 points in 9 games, his team scored a total of 72 goals and the #2 on his team in scoring had 19 points. So the easier opposition is likely at least partially balanced out by the team being terrible.

It's been almost impossible finding any kind of information on him, but I did manage to find one video from 2016 February where he was actually the captain of his C2 AA team, playing against a team composed entirely of 01s. After watching that entire game and seeing the amount of impact he was able to have in all game situations despite having just turned 13, I'm confident he'll become something great.

Using a sample size of one single game played a year and a half ago, his biggest strengths are in my opinion skating, vision, hockey IQ, calmness and swift and mature decision making. His defensive play was also spectacular considering the age.

Generally, players gain more exposure when they enter their u15 season so it's very likely that I'll have a better impression of how he plays(And hopefully how good he is against top tier competition) when the next season begins, but I figured I might as well make this thread now.

Uhh, the video is 1 hour 42 minutes so I couldn't exactly post that... I got a few clips I found interesting, though. Unfortunately, his team got destroyed and they lost the game 1-7 with him going pointless so it's a bit of an unfortunate sample. Note this is him as u13 playing vs a team composed of u15s. And hence that this indeed is from the 2015-2016 season.

For identification, he's #2, a right-handed shot and has the C.

A PK sequence:

Miscellaneous clips(2 shots on goal, then passes. Plenty of fluff but too lazy to edit):

Certainly would like to see one of those 8 points matches because I'm sure a season-old, pointless 1-7 loss isn't the best representation of him as a player but oh well. It's something.

He should move to Blues, Jokerit or IFK so he will actually play against kids that can skate and play the game. I was better than the kids in this video when i was 12:laugh:

What origin is his name?

Swedish last name, which is quite normal in Finland. First name is Finnish, but it is a rare variation of the far more common Viljami.

For sure. His dad seems to be the main junior development coach of LJK though(Same last name and there are at least 2 other Sandvik juniors playing there so I'm just assuming, could be unrelated or another relative but this same guy coached Viljam's football team in 2009 where Viljam was the star player so I really doubt that's a coincidence) so I wonder how much that'll impact things. Especially his teammates make unbelievably terrible plays absolutely all the time. Everything he does seems to go to waste, especially as he doesn't seem to be selfish enough.

He's played in some short tournaments with some better players from his age group and while he's not won the scoring title, he was the top scorer of his team both times. But just look at this nonsense:

...Just how? How do you not get any more points playing with him? And even when I watched that game where he was u13 in the u15 league, he was playing at LEAST 60% of the time, and that probably is a conservative estimate. No one else could get anything done. This also might be why he seems to constantly skate in a way to conserve his energy. Doesn't exactly look like he's trying very often. Rather efficient.

Another thing I've noticed is that he seems to have a pretty good shot. Elevates it consistently, has good accuracy, gets it off quickly and it seems to have an OK velocity. As a side note.

Really hope he'll play with / against decent competition next season. For LJK, he'd probably have to play in their senior team in the III-division, where I predict he'll get promoted after going like 5 PPG in the B-junior team. And while the III-division is terrible, it'll at least be against adult men. That could actually be pretty useful if you start playing against adults starting at 14 years of age...

Yeah, and Loviisa is 50/50 on Finnish and Swedish-speaking population so Swedish last names are very common there.

Invited to Pohjola Camp, how has he been this season? One of the top prospects from the 03 age group at least?

Top points-per-game averages from 2003-born players in C-SM thus far this season:
1. F - Niko Huuhtanen (Blues) 22gp 23g+37a=60p, 2,73-ppg
2. F - Brad Lambert (Pelicans) 19gp 28g+19a=47p, 2,47-ppg
3. F - Jere Virolainen (Tappara) 27gp 25g+30a=55p, 2,04-ppg
4. F - Verner Miettinen (Blues) 28gp 22g+29a=51p, 1,82-ppg
5. F - Jeremi Tammela (KalPa) 12gp 9g+12a=21p, 1,75-ppg
6. F - Rasmus Kuismin (Blues) 7gp 5g+7a=12p, 1,71-ppg
7. F - Ville Niemi (Blues) 24gp 13g+26a=39p, 1,63-ppg
8. F - Samu Tuomaala (Kärpät) 26gp 23g+19a=42p, 1,62-ppg
9. F - Viljami Marjala (Kärpät) 26gp 11g+28a=39p, 1,5-0ppg
10. F - Jesse Helander (JYP) 28gp 14g+26a=40p, 1,43-ppg
11. F - Samu Salminen (Jokerit) 20gp 13g+11a=24p, 1,20-ppg
12. F - Joonas Lohisalo (K-Laser) C-SM: 27gp 16g+13a=29p, 1,07-ppg
13. F - Kluas Kaspar Jögi (Blues) 14gp 3g+12a=15p, 1,07-ppg

c2AAA qualification group 4:
1. F - Viljam Sandvik (Viikingit) 20gp 40g+27a=67p
2. F - Rasmus Kuismin (BJR 1) 19gp 25g+33a=58p
3. F - Klaus Kaspar Jögi (BJR 2) 18gp 30g+26a=56p

Kuismin and Jögi are on both lists, so I imagine Sandvik could also play in C1 with good success if given a chance.

Let's hope there are some streams from Pohjola Camp like last year, this might be a fairly interesting age group.
