he plays with kaprizov, that explains a lot

Kaprizov is maybe the best player in the tournament, and it certainly helps he can convert a high % of the opportunities. But it's a dramatic misrepresentation and oversimplification of what the dynamics of that line are to say he's been carried by Kaprizov or a ride-along, though we know who the most talented one is. Vorobyov's excellent defense and ability to create and sustain cycles and cause turnovers and, in general, drive play and keep offensive zone possession has been very important for Kaprizov too. And while today's assist was a gimmee, many of those assists were off of great plays or passes that were well-earned. He's played an Anisimov/Couturier type role this tournament, and that explains a lot more.

Out for a month with a facial injury.

That sucks.

The Flyers prospect WJC curse continues!

Myers = concussion during tourney
Rubstov = broken nose and concussion during tourney
Vorobyov = facial injury just after tourney
Laczynski = missed semifinal game for USA with mystery ailment

Wish he would have stayed and developed one more year with Kaprizov in SU. IMO 1 year too early, will regret this.

Anways, a top 6 Center role in the AHL is a good way to prepare for the NHL.

Great move for Vorobyov's career to get out of Russia. The Phantoms will likely use him as the 1C or 2C, and with Fippula's contract ending after 17-18 he could be on the Flyers pretty quickly.

Get out? He has been used really well this season, it's not as if we are talking about Rubtsov. And now he's on his way to an inferior league.

Really wish he'd stay in Salavat.

He'll play a lot more than 44 games and average a lot more ice time than 9:47 on the Phantoms.

Like I said, great move. :handclap:

 Playing time is most important.

Playing a lot in the AHL > watching the KHL.

Wouldn't be at all surprised to see him with around double the average icetime next year.

Great move for Vorobyov. Phantoms should offer him a lot of ice-time on the C. If everything goes well, then I suppose he should spend max 2 seasons there. Should be good for his development to get acclimated in NA. Lehigh Valley is among top AHL teams and provides top facilities for players.

Well, he can play more than 44 games in the KHL too, and I think his ice time with Salavat would go up.

Why would his ice time not go up?

And the KHL is a superior league.

Is anyone questioning that the KHL is a better league than the AHL?

In the AHL, Vorobyov will play with future teammates, get more playing time, practice English, and become acclimated to NA ice. For a player who wants to play in the NHL, it's not a bad decision...
