A goal and an assist in Timrås 4-0 victory against Tingsryd tonight. Had a goal two days ago in a 3-0 victory against Oskarshamn as well. 6 points in 7 games so far, tied in scoring for Timrå with Jonathan Dahlén. Great start to his draft year.

Anyone have highlights of the last two games?

8p in 9 games that is a pretty great start, i am not surprise. But if he keeps this up, he should go very early in the draft.

And he still looks so tiny. I wonder what he'll be like if he can bulk up closer to 190 or so.

With a bit more muscle Pettersson would be absolutely unstoppable in Allsvenskan. His IQ and hands still make him a very good player.

He scored a lovely goal today. He's only 17 atm playing with Men. (Was actually 2+1 in this game)

I'm continually surprised at how strong he seems to be for a guy who is as slight as him. Scary to think what he'll be able to do with some added muscle.

Filip Forsberg during the season he got drafted:
Leksands IF Allsvenskan 43ga 8g 9a 17p

Elias Pettersson as of right now:
Timrå IK Allsvenskan 12ga 6g 7a 13p

He just needs 4points in 31 games to tie Filip Forsberg. How good is this kid? I haven't watched him.

Not quite accurate.

Forsberg wasn't a late birthday like Pettersson. As a '98 born kid, Pettersson's draft year should have been last season. His late birthday gives him an extra year to show his stuff before being drafted, but doesn't change the fact that he was born in 1998 like most kids drafted in 2015.

Forsberg's draft year:
43GP-8G-9A-17P

Pettersson's draft year:
25GP-3G-6A-9P

Forsberg's draft year+1:
38GP-15G-18A-33P

Pettersson's draft year+1:
12GP-6G-7A-13P

Still very impressive production, but not as impressive as you make it out to be.

No, you are wrong, this is Elias draft year, but yes you can make the argument that he is 9 months older than Forsberg at the time. It is like saying last year was not Matthews draft year, but Laines draft year, in that case Laine would have gone 1st overall with a large margin

Its impressive, Elias is very talented and small guy and going to be intresting following his development. Some growing and adding muscle, has very high potential. But with all fairness, Allsvenskan isnt as good as it used to be.

Small as in extremely skinny, yes. He's around 6'1-6'2 like his brother though and the big question is whether he will be able to put on muscle. His brother is 22 and still very skinny.

He now leads allsvenskan in scoring. No other player in their first draft year has even bern close to tha to winning that. Allsvenskan is not shl but stil very impressing.

If we should go by that logic it makes no sense why Matthews becomes drafted before Laine, Laine was better internationlly then Matthews and he was almost one year younger. I see this argument from time to time, but it is not used consistantly. Sure you can take some notice to it, but if we shall judge all draft players like you do in this post, the drafts would look very different.

Plus Pettersson had some injury problems last year, if we shall go back to 2014/2015 season, Pettersson had over 2PPG in J18 allsvenskan and superelit, which Forsberg was not close to even with your logic. Pettersson is a bigger talent then Forsberg at this age, but that is not a gurantee that he will be better or even close to as good. If Pettersson would be less raw and more NHL ready type of player (he needs 1-2 more years to build him up before going to NHL and should not be rushed), then I think he should be mention up there with Patrick as number one.
